I could not agree more !. After all Turkey really has all the ingredients to be an unbeatable "rival" for the EU. The country has a young population and an excellent Human Resource base. As labor still happens to be much lower Turkey can be tough competition and actually beat the EU any day of any week of any year really. Many multi-national Turkish firms have already proven this hypothesis.
Due to its location of being in the crossroads of Europe, Asia and the Middle East Turkey has been able to expand its manufacturing export base tremendously lately.
