(New Haven-WTNH, Aug. 9, 2004 11:25 AM) _ New Haven police are searching for the person who's been shooting off BBs or pellets at an area golf course.
One person was taken to the hospital Sunday after being shot while on the green of the city's Alling Memorial Golf Course.
Police say it was the second report in a week of a victim being shot with a pellet or BB while on the course.
Pellet guns on our own golf courses. The horror!
It'd be a good way to get the golfers to work on hitting the ball straight down the fairway - venturing into the tall grass would carry a bigger penalty than "hit the ball where it lies".
The only part of golf I ever liked was just the whacking. Now combine the whacking aspects of driving with the mild danger of pellet guns and the open humiliation of paint-ball and we have a truly American game!

the single pump ones we grew up with aren't to dangerous past 25 feet or so...but some of the more modern .22 cal pellet guns can get up around 1,000 fps.
