The biggest Republican campaign donor in Texas has financed a smear campaign to not only challenge Sen. John Kerry's Vietnam War heroism but also to portray him as a liar and a coward.

This is based on unsupported charges and transparently deceptive tactics. Yet President Bush has failed for days to denounce it, a decision that he knows gives the ad credibility with some poorly informed voters.

Bush talks a lot about the importance of character. This was a good test of his ability to live up to that rhetoric, and so far he has failed it. Consequently, the American public will continue to be subjected to an ad that ignores the serious issues of a presidential race.

Just to be clear Bush CAN NOT cordinate (i.e. tell them not play the ad) with a 527 (i.e. Swift Boat Vets For Truth) because that would be ILLEGAL. But a democrate obeying the law is like Mr. Ed talking, may look real but it was a trick done with smoke, mirrors, and peanut butter.

Bush spoke out against the ad when it first came out, I saw it on FOXNEWS. It's just amazing what these Democrats will try to do to stifle free speech when they don't like the message, isn't it?

I'm getting a little weary of all the sage pronouncements by Democrats that weren't even there that 254 of Kerry's former comrades in arms are vicious liars controlled by some mysterious, imaginary "vast rightwing conspiracy".

If the liberals were smart, they'd just shut up about the whole issue and hope it dies down before the election, and that Kerry comes up with another message besides "I'm a hero, and anybody who questions that is an evil tool of Bush" crap...
