A USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll found that viewers enjoyed the debate: 88% said they watched "all or most" of it. The poll found Kerry achieved one of his goals: Viewers gave him a 60%-32% advantage over Bush on expressing himself clearly. But 54% said Bush demonstrated he's tough enough for the job, compared with 37% for Kerry.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-09-30-inside-debate_x.htm

The Kerry people already were on the polls..hot and heavy!

An e-mail from DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe read, "Tonight, don't let George Bush's henchmen steal another victory. We need your online help immediately after the debate, so save this email, print it out, and have it ready with you as you watch the first Presidential debate tonight."

McAuliffe continued. "We all know what happened in 2000. Al Gore won the first debate on the issues, but Republicans stole the post-debate spin. We are not going to let that happen again, and you will play a big role. Immediately after the debate, we need you to do three things: vote in online polls, write a letter to the editor, and call in to talk radio programs. Your 10 minutes of activism following the debate can make the difference."

National and local news organizations will be conducting online polls during and after the debate asking for readers' opinions, McAuliffe said. Providing web sites for six major national news organizations, McAuliffe encouraged his readers to look for the online polls "and make sure to vote in every one of them."

McAuliffe also encouraged people to go online immediately after the debate and write to their local newspaper. "If you feel John Kerry commanded the debate and had a clear plan for fixing the mess in Iraq, put it in your letter. If you feel George Bush dodged tough questions on Iraq and didn't level with voters, put it in your letter."

Covering every branch of media, McAuliffe continued. "Do you listen to national or local call-in shows on the radio? How about on TV? Call them and let them know what you thought of John Kerry's plan to keep America secure and George Bush's continuing refusal to admit the truth about his record."

Shows recommended by McAuliffe were Air America, Alan Colmes, Ed Shultz and Bev Smith.

Thanks, Richard, but I do not think it is legitimate. There are more than 1 MILLION votes, and pms/nbc has not got 1/3 of that in viewers. Even with the DUers, it is not going to get this number of votes... It probably started with more than a million, lopsided votes, IMO!

Kerry appeared to win on points. Bush did not perform well.

There are still plenty of reasons that Kerry should not be placed in charge of taxation, education, Supreme Court appointments, etc.

Like other socialists, Kerry is a left-brained control freak who can exhibit analytical rigor in handling details in his speaking style. Fortunately, Americans tend not to like smarmy dorks of this type. Although Kerry can appear confident and even informed, most of his ideas are based on nutty, kooky, goofy misinformation and wrong-headed socialist/liberal secular humanist nonsense. The Dems might as well be running Barbara Streisand and Shirley MacLaine as their candidates.

I didn't hear anything NEW from either speaker. When one
takes into consideration that for 20 years Kerry has been winning elections in Massachussetts on exactly what we saw last night...a talented, polished debater. The question has to be asked, WHAT is his record in the Senate after getting elected by the "Masses?"

Kerry did win the debate, I'm sorry to say. Bush let him get away with too much.

My frustration is that the President didn't sufficiently hammer home this point:

Hindsight is 20/20. Anyone can sit back and look at the current information and the current results and say "back then we should have done thus and so". Time and time again Senator Kerry is on record as making the wrong decision at the time it had to be made.

The best Senator Kerry can offer is that he thinks he is able to make the right decision three years after it is required. America does not need a president like that.

Another site had about 50 online polls linked. I don't know how to link it here.

We hate US Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We hate all US Troops!

We lie about them in 2004 the same as we did in the 60's and 70's!

We vow to insult and undermine Iraq Prime Minister Ayad Allawi

We vow to protect the UN and the Oil for Food Scandal

We vow to keep secret the ties between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaida

We vow to free Saddam Hussein with help from our old friend Ramsey Clark.
