For Your Viewing Pleasure: Happy Endings for "Middle America"

Edited on 02/19/2005 11:36:23 PM PST by Jim Robinson. [history]

With the help of some really magnanimous people -- most specifically the generous and talented Jeffers M. Dodge -- I managed to revisit my Unspun ways.

In 2004, a posse of Hollywood stars came out en masse to lend their hip, fabulous selves to the presidential campaign of John F. Kerry, confident that their added (and, frankly, much needed) sparkle would ensure the defeat of incumbent President George W. Bush. Did Shiny Objects indeed distract The People? Post election, and post a rather ignominious defeat, their standard-bearer Michael Moore stated that they were indeed victorious -- that they had successfully "prevented a Bush landslide." Was that really the sole outcome? In other words, when they returned from their forays into flyover country did they find that their thrones had maintained their elevation in their absence?
Hope you enjoy it!

Besides, the only mic I used was attached to my vest. I couldn't exactly thrust my chest at them each time I spoke, now could I?

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I think the music wasn't too loud it just didn't have enough cowbell and bus.

Deb's gonna' be pissed you didn't invite her to JIB for tacos. You know she loves to take the girls up to Hollywood for a little street urchin.

Love the boots.

Ok, I thought the thing was pretty good -- No trouble with sound quality (headphones), but here's a tip:

Avoid the 3rd and 18th of the month for street interviews; That's when the welfare checks (and goonie birds) come out -- Truck drivers call it "Mardi Gras" . . .

Dang, I'm only at 4% buffering in WMP...I need to get away from dial-ups

I just got broadband--WOW! An estimated 56 minute download takes about a minute. And we have the use of our phone back, too (not that anyone ever calls...).

I've had a second line since late '99 or so. Use it for internetting and faxing. Someday I'll have to upgrade.

What's up with the location Ron?...There aint nuttin there but some crack heads and heroin addicted democrats...What is rich is that that ornate looking facaded building, that the W sign is on, has a loft area that some ultra-liberal commie either lives in or works from...I have seen a peace sign hanging in the window there...I'll betcha 10 to 1 that he is the guy that scaled the sign and defiled the Bush sign with his swastika (of course the swastika being a freudian slip revealing his true political aspirations).

We may not be able to get very many people into the PRIME media location at Hollywood & Highland.
LAST YEAR, there were so many people jammed into that corner that the LAPD had to close the sidewalks to EVERYONE not already inside a two-block perimeter by noon.
Even TED HAYES (who arrived just before 2 pm) was not allowed into that "prime location" -- as there were Oscar fans EVERYWHERE. :(

I plan to review our options with the LAPD later this week, but for now, here is our CURRENT strategy, from the pre-FReep thread:

...We expect that SOME the TV cameras, wire service photographers and print journalists will start arriving as early as noon, but MOST of the media attention should be from 3 pm to 5 pm – during the Red Carpet ceremonies.
The limos should start driving west on Hollywood Blvd (from Wilcox, or Vine) at about 3 pm – right past our position in front of the billboard at Hollywood and Whitley.
Our current plan is to have an advance team (led by Ted Hayes and RonDog) [and Outraged?] arrive at Hollywood and Highland – to "stake out" a position near the steel fence facing the Red Carpet arrival area VERY EARLY Sunday morning. This area will rapidly be OVERWHELMED by Oscar fans from all across the USA, as they squeeze in to perhaps get a glimpse of their favorite star’s arrival...
Anyone arriving before noon should attempt to hook up with us there. Ted and I may decide to give up our “front row” positions to others, who may be able to hold signs.
The SECOND team will gather in front of the billboard at Hollywood and Whitley – three blocks east of Highland. Some time around noon, Ted and I will break away from our "front row" positions, and move to join the second team (at Hollywood and Whitley) – where we will lead a "parade" down Hollywood, from Whitley to as close to Highland as we can get.
We will know more soon.

It's disappointing how many doofuses needed an explanation. Part of the left's most successful efforts has been the dumbing down of our culture.

Who's the cute girl on camera BTW?

That was a really, really great shew......:)

Now, I'm ready for another one. Maybe "L.A. in the Rain" documentary-- (I remember how hard it was for people to cope with rain there. It must be chaos now.)

Seriously, your talent for this is obvious. Let's see more soon.
