And in your rosy 'annexation' scenario, those poor uneducated people with no spines would elect socialist representatives who promise them the moon and stars paid for by America's taxpayers, and the costs would absolutely kill the American middle class. And all this would be occuring during a civil war, because there is no damn way that many of us would tolerate any situation at all similar to what you describe.
