e-mail | 7/26/2005 | Razorback-bert

Posted on 07/26/2005 11:52:32 AM PDT by razorback-bert

I just received an email from Chapita sister saying he is in the hospital end stage renal failure.

He is not expected to make it through the week. I wanted to share this sad news with all his e-mail buddies. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. Thank you.

To Jim Hyde AKA Chapita. Thank you for introducing me to freeping back in 2000. goodbye my friend, i will miss you. For those who might like to know Jim (Chapita) a little better, here is a link to an article written by Paul Weyrich (Free Congress Research and Education Foundation) in August of 2004. He talks extensively about Jim in this article.

Someone once said that the first real sign of middle age was when you started paying attention to the obituary pages in your local paper, and that a good number of the folks listed were younger than you...

Is it just me, or does it seem alot of Freepers are passing lately. I wonder what our demographic profile looks like. are we disproportionally old?

Amazing how things happen. I found this post from Chapita just 10 days ago!

"Virginia and I are building our last [retirement] home. Next to our old house out on the river. If I get into any trouble in Mississippi, all I'll have to do is swim out to the middle of the 200' wide Pearl River, and I'll be in Louisiana!

I'm so sorry.

Chapita joined our forum first as Jim Hyde back in 1997 and later changed his screen name to Chapita. He worked with Paul Weyrich of the Free Congress Foundation and was a great patriot.

Prayers for Jim's family and loved ones.

I would like to thanks everyone here for the love and support of my Dad. A special thanks to Paul Weyrich for giving my Dad hope that pulled him through a terrible time. If it wasn't for Paul and his friends here, my Dad would have given up long ago.

We managed to keep him comfortable his last days in the hospital. He left this world peacefully. I thank God that I was given three days to talk to him before he left.

Thank you and God bless.
James Hyde III

Your father was a real swell gentleman. I cheered him on for several years and will miss him a lot.

Best wishes for comfort to you and your family.

I was blessed to hear from Jim via email, almost without fail, two to three times each and every week for the past several years - news items, pictures, jokes, or just a quick hello. He was a decent and courageous man who contributed to the "good fight" in his own unique fashion. I will miss him, as will many others, and he will always be fondly remembered.

God Bless his family and friends in this time of sorrow.
