Bill Clinton Starts Breast Cancer Fund

Adding breast cancer to the list of health causes he champions, former President Bill Clinton is establishing a fund in honor of his mother, who died of the disease in 1994.

"She had a very upbeat attitude and never thought of herself as dying from the disease but living with it," Clinton said in a telephone interview Thursday with The Associated Press.

"She was totally at ease with her own mortality and yet ferocious in fighting against the disease."The Virginia Clinton Kelley Fund will be part of the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund. Clinton and leaders of the advocacy group were announcing it Thursday in New York City. The new effort will educate and train breast cancer survivors to influence research and expand access to care, Clinton said.

"Basically, we're going to train people to do what she did by second nature. We're doing better with breast cancer but we've still got a long way to go."

The former president said his own health problems quadruple heart bypass surgery last year and a procedure in March to remove scar tissue and fluid around a lung made him want to work even harder on health issues.

"The fact that I survived made me feel an even deeper sense of obligation to spend whatever time I've got left on earth doing what I can for other people to make sure they have a chance to live a full and rich life," Clinton said.

I saw that headline a few minutes ago and had the same thought.

The guy is joke ... AND a punchline ... a fine legacy that he well deserves.

Why is he setting up yet another breast cancer fund to compete with the other breast cancer funds?

The other funds don't have Clinton's name in their fund's name.

It's all about him

This looks like the potential First Gentleman of Weasel, is starting to campaign for the wife of record. This will be the CAUSE for the potential First Stud to show the female half of America how much he cares for women. Excluding those countless few he did not care about, see Congressional record, Clinton, Bill, impeachment. Watch the continuing Saga of Bill, Protector of the Poor, the Weak, the Uneducated as he casts the Great Stained Blanket of Protection over the masses that would never vote for the wife of record.

Well, I suppose he should campaign for other women's breasts, since Hillary hasn't got any.

You nailed it, IMHO. He's so predictable. Love your expression.. "the wife of record"...LOL.

A fund to finance research for Prostate Cancer or even Heart disease would have been more appropriate for Slick to endorse. He's shameless.

I'm no fan of Bill Clinton, but for once, good on him. Having lost my own mother, I can sympathise with this particular pain. This is probably the most honest thing he's done in his entire public career.

OMG I'm still laughing at this. You just can't make stuff like this up. The late-night shows are going to have a field day.

So...

Will Hillary, real or imagined, go for the sympathy vote and claim breast cancer?

Would we put it past her to actual have a mastectomy and go on the campaign trail "slightly deflated" on one side?

Why do I get a picture of the character Bill Murray played in the movie "Kingpin"?

LOL! I like the part when Woody Harrelson's character has to go down on the landlord to keep his apt.

How long before Clinton claims that he too once suffered from breast cancer? [along with his witnessing black churches burning, sitting with blacks at the back of the bus, being part Indian, etc.]
