Four members of a family from Frost, Minn., were arrested Tuesday after authorities found 114 explosive devices and more than 20 pounds of explosive materials inside their home and buried in their yard.

The suspects are a mother and father and their 19- and 15-year-old sons, authorities said. Faribault County authorities said the suspects are linked to a half-dozen mailbox explosions in rural Freeborn County over the past few months

Admin Moderator, I wasn't sure whether to place this in News or Chat.

Cripes, I think most of us have done stupid things in our younger years - but this is different. It sounds like the entire family is involved! These parents don't sound like they were being good role models for their children.

Opinions or comments - anyone?

Two adults...two kids...explosives in Minnisota? Blowing up mailboxes? Something doesn't make sense here. I'd make sure both adults spend at least 3 years in prison.

Very strange, all those explosives just to blow up mailboxes?"

Practice for something bigger?

Stealing the important mail and blowing up the rest to cover up evidence?

Lots of things come to mind, most of them unpleasant.

Are they Muslims

No.

and the news is making a huge deal of the "20 pounds of explosive material" in the house.
in reality 20 pounds of explosive material is nothing... stop by any farm in MN and you'll find a hell of a lot more than 20 pounds of 'explosive material'. How many re-loader have more than that in their house right now? sure - if it was 20 pounds of c-4 or some other 'specialized' explosive, that might be impressive - but I smell a serious liberal media spin on this one. And what exactly were the 100+ explosive devises? 100 rounds of ammo would be 100 'explosive devices'.

I'm not saying these people didn't do anything wrong - I just don't trust the damn media - especially not in MN...

The Red-Star is notorious for not letting people know the race or ethnicity of violent crime suspects at large (unless they're white). The suspects in the recent Uptown muder were described as Somali, but that never made it to the news reports. The thugs responsible for a recent wave of muggings in the University area are probably black, but they haven't reported it. And I happen to know their race because I was one of their victims.

I think its very strange that they didn't identify the family by name since they were arrested and will be charged.

Any ideas on why the Red Star might have left them out?

I've had thousands of "explosive devices" at various times since I was eight or ten years old. We usually used them up during the forth of July or New Years. "Explosive materials" can cover a lot of things normally found around a home. Might be interesting to know what they had.
