WASHINGTON Republicans on Capitol Hill ramped up their opposition to a Democratic proposal Friday to halt war funding for new missions in Iraq, even as members of House marched toward likely approval of a nonbinding resolution opposing the president's planned troop surge.
"They ultimately plan to cut off funds for the troops," the Senate's top Republican, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, told FOX News on Friday.
He said Democrats were trying to micromanage the war, and "they want to substitute their judgment for that of Gen. [David] Petraeus," who was confirmed in January to become the top U.S. military commander in Iraq.

Congress should put up a bill to fund Al Qaeda, Hamas and Hezbollah. Perhaps ship arms to the Iranian Revolutionary guard, and purchase new Imam gowns for Islamofascist clergy.
It surely would garner tremendous 'Rat support.

Well, Sen. McConnell, what do YOU plan to do about it? Are you going to be a real leader, or throw up your hands and surrender?

Yes, it's true; the Republicans are much happier as the opposition party.

This war effort costs BILLONS of dollars. There is no way a coin drive will do it. Sorry.

In a representative republic, the people get the Government that they want and deserve.
If the result is a terrorist nuclear device detonated in San Francisco or some other American city, they shouldn't expect the left to take responsibility -- and, the left should NOT take responsibility. They are doing exactly what they said they'd do and the people elected them on that basis.

There is no way a coin drive will do it. I'm thinking a 10% tax on Teddy Kennedy's bar bill. Heck, that'd fund the Iran invasion.

They should be charged with attempted murder. After all of their whining and crying about the troops not having what they needed, now they're stripping them bare.
Nothing makes a democrat happier than a dead soldier.

A returning vet should run for office against every one of them in 2008.
While our unit was driving Al Qaida out of Bgahdad, my opponent was voting to prevent reinforcements from coming, voting against us having food, water and bullet-proof vests. Iraq is continuing its struggle today but it is suceeding. It would have ceased to exist if my opponent had his way. 20 million people would be living under Al Qaida's evil rule today. America needs people who do what's right, even when it's not popular.
To: bnelson44
It's time for GWB to force a constitutional crisis: if the Congressional 'Rats attempt to cut off funding for the war, they will have proven themselves to be traitors. Any funding cutoff should be followed by executive orders restoring funding, suspending habeus corpus, and arresting any congresscritter that interferes (ala Abe Lincoln).

The democRAT traitors are trying to do in Iraq what they did in Vietnam, micromanage the war, and look at the damage the democrats did to the troops on the ground. Look at the Vietnam Wall, we can thank the democRATS for the number of names on it. Liberal politicans should let the military run the war, 'cause all they can only do is run their mouths and run up taxes.
