Hassan Butt Tells Bob Simon Killing In The Name Of Islam Is A "Cancer"
British police this week arrested three British Muslims in connection with the 2005 bombings on the London subway system in which 52 people were killed.
The world was shocked when the four suicide bombers blew themselves up that morning, especially when it turned out that they were British citizens. The four had been recruited to what is called the "Network," a web of radical Islamic organizations loosely affiliated to al Qaeda which has turned Britain into the western world’s richest breeding grounds for terrorists. How did this happen?
60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon met someone who knows. And for the first time he spoke about what it was like to be inside that network for ten years. His name is Hassan Butt. He’s only 26 years old, but some of the people he recruited were a lot younger than that.
Hassan Butt admits he sent a 17-year-old boy from England to Pakistan to be involved in terrorist training.
Butt was only 16 when he was recruited by the network. Like thousands of other young British Muslims, he became exposed to some of the most radical Imams in Britain – Imams who supported attacks on westerners all over the world and believed that they had a tacit agreement with the British authorities.
They could preach hatred, they could recruit followers, they could raise funds, and they could even call for Jihad – Holy war – as long as they didn’t call for attacks on British soil. London became such a safe haven for Muslim militants that it came to be known as "Londonistan."
"Do you think this was an unspoken deal with the establishment? That, do whatever you want here as long as you don't blow us up?" Simon asks Butt.
"Absolutely. I believe that sincerely," Butt tells Simon. "That was an unspoken deal. And as a result of that, what tended to happen is the British government lost count of how many people were going abroad getting trained and coming back and going into operational mode as sleeper cells."

The endless butchery in the name of islam is proof positive that islam is a false, satanic death cult, and is in no way a religion.
I'd like to see the names of the enlightened British officials with whom this "tacit agreement" existed.
Using the religious rulers to extract young men from merely difficult family situations (e.g., telling them they'll not be outcast to marry whichever practicing Muslim woman they want), sanctifying donors' money for terrorist activities, even taking 20% of drug profits to purify pushers' entire enterprise (ha! so long as it's sold only to non-Muslims) are just some of the ways their religion has developed to directly support terrorism.
Transforming innocent targets into combatants deserving death is a tremendous leap that is clearly part of these young people's radicalization. It's a huge crime against humanity being perpetrated, in mosques, on street corners and in pool halls.
Though a very effective fund-raiser and proselytizer, Butt apparently balked only at his religion's "reprogramming" of him, such that he be placed in Iraq as a suicide bomber.
One would think conspiracy to commit mass murder would be a crime that would certainly automatically get foreigners deported and citizens thrown in jail for a dozen years or more. Let them compare that to merely having to marrying the girl next door that mom and dad like.

Was a great interview, especially after the vapid, repetitive blather with Couric that preceded it.
The more I learn about Islam, mainly by watching the actions of muslims, the more obvious it is that Islam is a cancer.
Can somebody explain to me how this real piece of journalism actually made it on 60 Minutes?

Europe to Islam, in a nutshell.
The British Establishment-a network of upper crust good old boys who run the government civil service, the major economic bases, and the media such as the BBC--has always had an 'arabist' tilt.
Anything they do that smacks of a rapprochment with the jihadis should be looked at as a continuation of this long-term relationship.
It would be a lot more efficient to look for the names of those few who were not in 'tacit agreement.'
Sad to say that multicultural PCism has long gone around the bend and over the edge in jolly old England and we're not too damn far behind.
This interview should be immediately sent to every America Muslim mosque. It should be sent to the President and the entire GOP Congress. It should be mandatory for printing in the Wash. Post, NYTimes, Boston Globe, Minn. Star Tribune and every other leftist media outlet. It should be sent to every DNC official, Kos, Code Pink and all the other Quisling leftist groups. If this doesn't warn Americans that Islam is not part of our heritage, nothing will.
"Free speech" ping. Citizen Brits aren't free to denounce a particular religion, but Islamic immigrants can preach hate in the UK. I don't post this as a taunt. I see the same thing happening in the USA. We should all be concerned.
