Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

That’s a pretty clear delineation of the Keyes position, and obviously the Robinson position.

LOL! The beauty of the internet. Politicians used to be able to walk away from their rhetoric.

“Prolific posters from 1998 may be Rudybots, but they’re certainly not trolls if they’ve managed to stick around here for that long”

Sorry to jump in, but we do know of a poster from 2002 that has admitted to being a troll on FR, on the anti-freeper site he has joined.

“Better watch it, rb, the howlers are up to their old tricks...”

“It riles them to see...
...that you have perceived...
...the web they have drawn for you....”

It only makes me remember the bad old days here on FR and makes me more resolved to fight for conservatism.

Please expand upon your inference. Then share with us your conservative activities for the past several years. I want to hear about your experiences at conservative/FReeper events. Surely, you have something more to share than keyboard pounding bravado.

So, to clarify, you’re okay with “the Religious Right DRIVING AND STEERING this bus known as Free Republic” but not the bus known as the GOP? If it’s the GOP, then your analogy sorta falls flat. When you’re driving the bus, others don’t have any choice but to go the direction you’re taking it. We don’t drive the GOP bus. We drive our own bus in the GOP caravan. It’s a big, non-monolithic bus. If someone wants to get their own fleet of buses going, so be it. But they shouldn’t be in our bus telling us that we’re stupid/unappeasable/backwards/theocrats/whatever.

Extremely well said.

I hate the acrimony, the hostility of this thread. I hate the celebratory tone that is taken every time that someone is gone - for whatever reason or rationalization.

...

I am grieving because I, along with many of the departed, celebrated being here. The witch hunt must stop. It must. If you wish to flush out those who think "differently" you will find only an echo chamber left behind.

...

Make no mistake, the power and the impact of Free Republic is diminished with every single "woo-hoo". Please, call for a stop to this nonsense.

To add a bit to an already excellent post:

This thread is turning FR into the living embodiment of the worst caricature its enemies have ever dreamed up. No outside attack could ever have done the damage to FR that this thread has already done.

I never thought I would see the day when the rallying cry for FreeRepublic became, "Up yours, asswipe".

What has been lost is lost forever.

Well, personally, I feel all descendants of those terrible days should be exempt from federal income taxes for a couple generations.

With all due respect, I'm shocked at that remark. Why should I, or my children, or my grandchildren have to pay for those who are descendants of those who had to endure slavery? Didn't our own descendants fight and die to free them from slavery? Exempting someone from paying the same federal income taxes that I am required to pay based on something that happened a LONG time ago is the SAME as paying REPARATIONS. It's all the same. You either support reparations/tax exempt status or you don't. I don't.

Well, when the closing arguments include an acknowledgement that your were right, but also a “liberal dufas” because of it, then the little guy like me feels compelled to say something.

The word “exodus” is a large and voluntary departure. Most of these FReepers did not want to leave, the wanted to make FR more liberal.
***Worth repeating so I don’t have to hunt for it or remember who posted it in the future.

When Keyes first came out with that asinine proposal my first thought was every American, regardless of race, who had family who fought in the Civil War, should send Keyes a bill for services rendered.

Well I gave you a chance to at least appear to be objective about this but you have decided to take the anti Freeper position...the hate FR crowd if you will.

If by "the anti-FReeper position", you mean I dislike it when FReepers engage in personal attacks and character assassination like you just tried to do, you are correct. I don't hate Free Republic - I love it. I am sick and tired of the personal attacks and profanity. MANY of us are, but few are willing to stick out their necks and post for fear of being attacked.

As I said before, I've largely avoided the Republican candidate bashing threads because I found them a bit unseemly. When two sides are behaving badly, I'm not sure purging those who pushed one side of the discussion is the proper solution. It just leaves the other side to continue unchecked.

Just go support the abortionist, open border, gun grabbing, homosexual extra rights given, sanctuary city luvin liberal. I’m done with you appearing to so caring about this site. You just are mad you buddies got the zotbot.

I'll support whomever I want. Right now, I haven't made up my mind. It's simply too early for me, and I don't even know who will be on the ballot here, given New York State's restrictive ballot access laws. Like most FReepers, I am troubled by Giuliani's positions on some social issues, especially gun control and abortion. But living in a place like New York, you quickly learn that every politician isn't going to reflect your views completely, and almost always, ESPECIALLY in the general election, you have to support the candidate who comes closest.

And I'm not MAD that some of my "buddies" got the "zotbot". I'm SAD that long-time FReepers have been purged - or worse - decided to leave here, and that others continue to smear them by calling them "trolls" or "closet liberals". It's difficult to be a prolific poster here for almost a decade and be a troll or closet liberal.

The Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments protect human life against the federal government. It is the Ninth Amendment that says, unalienable rights not enumerated do exist and it is the Tenth Amendment that says these non enumerated rights are best protected by the states.

So, are you saying that you agree that the Constitution protects innocent human life?

LOL! Perhaps I'm not being clear.

The Fifth and the Fourteenth Amendments protect human life against the federal (and state) government.

The Ninth and the Tenth Amendment protects human life from all by giving the states and local governments powers, such as the powers to prohibit abortion.

And if I'm not mistaken, most states prohibited abortions by law right up until Roe v. Wade.
