Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

>> Now what words in my comment inspired you to bring up WA? Amazing, absolutely amazing.

You were talking about WA, for pity sake. Reference 17518 and 17520.

I disagree with your premise. Having voted third party twice and holding my nose and voting for W in '04, I take a back seat to NO ONE when it comes to supporting our troops.

In fact, my job, that I have performed for the last 18 years, supports them directly (and no, I will not tell you precisely where I work).

Your premise, by voting 3rd party you hurt the troops, is offensive on its face. 'Pod.

Thank you for disagreeing with me so politely. I never meant to be offensive when I stated that I felt voting 3rd party would hurt our troops. I look at it this way. Votes that could have gone to the Republican candidate would be given to a 3rd party candidate. If the election is a close one, those votes could actually determine the outcome of the election. That outcome could possible put a Democrat in the White House. I feel that the Democrats do not have our military's best interests at heart, do not understand or care enough about the WOT, and in fact they have and continue to hurt our military men and women and their missions. We're seeing that playing out right before our eyes. In my honest opinion, that is a fact, not a guess. That's where I'm coming from....and it is just my opinion for what it's worth. :)

No don-o I didn’t. I’ve chewed on this for about 9 nights now. Starting at post # 1. And yes, Boy Howdy! I’m as enthusiastic as ever to do what I can!!!

But now that you’re an “olbie” you have no problem suggesting how this website should be run. Funny, I didn’t know it was your place to tell JR how he should run this place. Guess I didn't get the memo.

I don't believe that I have ever told JR how he should run this place. I have asked questions, and I have stated that I am not pleased with some of the ugliness that has gone on here, but that is hardly the same as telling JR what he should do. It's his "house", not mine but I have supported it.

You’re welcome.

Hey, I just realized there should be a 5.

Yes, I talked about WA. But then I talked about FR and how it became a success. I didn’t intend for people to mix them up. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.

Quite true. The Arlen Spectors of the world should take notice. It should not be assumed by the Country Club Republicans that our votes should be taken for granted. They tried that with bobdole and look where that got us. The Country Club Republicans should not assume that it is conservatives that need to move to their position on the issues. On the contrary, w/o us, they would have no swank parties in Dee Cee to attend b/c they would be farther on the fringe than Kookcinich.

I feel that the Democrats do not have our military's best interests at heart, do not understand or care enough about the WOT, and in fact they have and continue to hurt our military men and women and their missions.

Agree 1000%

Thank you for disagreeing with me so politely.

De nada. ;-)

>>But espousing liberalism? That profanity goes clear to the bone--to the utter marrow. That's filth of entirely different, far more befouling and destructive nature.

Yes, a pretty point. I went back to #2028 to read it in context. Well done. Thanks for the bump.

If the GOP becomes as liberal as the Democratic party, why should FR not become anti-GOP? FR is against liberalism, if the GOP moves in that direction, then yes, FR will oppose the GOP, but it won’t be because it was FR that changed it’s position.

I understand that position, and in a sense I agree with it, but I also have a feeling that perhaps up to 20% of the daily active posters may have left this forum in recent weeks. There are still plenty of other people, probably in the majority, who fully intend to vote for ANY Republican candidate in 2008 and are still working to get their favorite as the nominee.

If the mood here next spring and summer is that you can't speak out in favor of that nominee, then those folks either shup up or leave, too. Shutting up or leaving are the same thing. The ritual beheading followed by dancing is only a celebration that means nothing.

It would fundamentally change this forum.

A Hillary victory might revitalize it, but if there are no GOP stalwarts still posting here, it might be a long road back.

You guys who are more than happy to throw all the GOPers overboard in a quest for ideological purity might have to deal with the mess you made.

If you're happy with a much smaller, unaligned, and far less influential forum than FR is now, or at least was, at least you were warned of the possibility. You won't have accomplished anything except the diminishment of the finest conservative forum in the world, but you'll feel great about yourselves. That's a choice you might have to make. I hope not, but I think so.

I want to continue to be a part of this forum. I've been here many years. If it becomes a self-destructive third party anti-GOP site, I just won't visit until it regains its sanity. Third parties are for losers. Stay at home voters are at least smarter than them. They don't waste the gasoline to go vote.

A lot of how one acts as a newbie depends on how they stumbled across FR and what is going on at the time, my first two posts are on my profile page and it was during the thick of the Bush-Gore recounts. Starting during a major event going on tends to bring out the passion in many Freepers...

Don’t worry about the hypothetical general election matchup too much, Dog Gone, and for God’s sakes we need you here, you are a good one! COncentrate on getting a good conservative that we can get elected, and we’ll worry about the hypothetical later when we know what the world has given us as a backdrop for the election, and who we are up against.

We have almost a year to get a nominee chosen. No need to worry about the hypothetical matchup if we fail in the primaries.
