This past Tuesday the governor of Virginia announced he would close the loophole that allowed Seung-Hui Cho to buy the guns he used to kill 32 people and himself on the Virginia Tech campus. OK, it's a good idea to keep guns out of the hands of people who are mentally unstable. But be careful about how far the calls for gun control go, because the idea that gun control laws lower gun crime is a myth.

CCW IS crime control. And 42 states who have adopted it have seen crime rates go down. Can't argue that an armed society is a safer society.

That’s great - I like it - very clever analogy.

I don’t think it ever did. As far as I recall, certain aliens have always been able to purchase firearms from FFL dealers, and the federal laws did not regulate posession by the same. I think it was in the original 1968 GCA. Else, it may have been changed in 1986 with the Volkner Act, but I think it was not.

Might stricter gun laws result in more gun crime? It seems counterintuitive but makes sense if we consider one simple fact: Criminals don't obey the law. Strict gun laws, like the ban in Britain, probably only affect the actions of people who wouldn't commit crimes in the first place. Ding, ding, ding -- we have a winnah.

Libs hate Stossel for telling the truth. Trouble is, the conservative media doesn’t have the guts to support him.

Many people ,in certain neighborhoods huddle in their homes and apartments after dark afraid to venture out because thugs armed with illegal weapons roam the street. The residents suffer because of the gun ban. Gun grabbers have never lived in these locations.
