President Bush’s latest attempt to salvage the Immigration Bill has made it crystal clear that there is indeed a political class of those we elect, who blatantly ignore the wishes of the electorate. Despite the overwhelming outcry against the bill in its present form, the president and many members of Congress seem determined to pass a collection of glued-together agendas, which are far from being a comprehensive solution.
The Senate responded to the outcry by voting to not end debate, which prompted Senator Harry Reid, the Majority Leader, to pull the bill from the floor for the time being. That time being until the president can twist enough Republican arms to change their positions to vote with the Democrats. The president’s attempt to do so in spite of the public feedback has alienated and disappointed many people...
When the president and Congress seem to defy the public’s outcry, people are doubly frustrated and feel that it’s the political class against the working class, namely, those of us who work to pay taxes, which fund government, out-of-control spending and ill-constructed public policy.
The more we say no amnesty, the more they say it is not amnesty. The more we say border security first, the more they say we are working on it. The more we say no shortcut to citizenship, the more they say the Z-visa is not a short-cut. And the more we object to this version of the bill, the more they say we have to do something even if it is not perfect. There is a big difference between not perfect and not acceptable.
It is not acceptable to not enforce current laws. It is not acceptable to not properly secure the borders first. It is not acceptable to catch and release illegal criminals because local, state and federal authorities are not working together... It is not acceptable to allow millions and millions of illegal immigrants to add additional strain to our already strained health care and Social Security systems...
Our only practical response against the continuing abuse by the political class on the working class is to vote them out of office. But that takes time and we must be patient and persistent. The good news is that, within the political class, there are more partisan disagreements than agreements on other issues. This causes potential legislation to move very slowly through the process, while we try to elect candidates who will not disregard us once they are elected.
In the mean time, the working class has to continue to scream loud and long to at least mitigate some of the negative and unintended consequences of ill-constructed legislation. The public wants an immigration bill, but not one that appears to make a bad situation worse...The working class obviously sees some serious imperfections in the proposed Immigration Bill that the political class chooses to ignore. And once again, those imperfections would be at our expense.

76 years later, with modern technology and equipment, we can’t build a damn fence?
If I could stop laughing long enough, I’d be crying over this stupid statement.
Just wondering ... what would keep citizens from building a fence? The law signed last October days a fence must be built and as I see it citizens must comply with the law. Build the fence then submit invoices to Bush for labor, equipment and materials. If he does not pay then put a lean on his property in Crawford.

Your letter is very good, however she won’t get past the 3rd line of your letter. So a letter more directly to the point will get her attention alot better. “Dear Mrs Hutchinson, this bill sucks & you suck if you vote for it. We can’t wait to vote you out of office if you vote for it.” Now that’s to the point where even a Politician can understand it.
I think it’s a great letter. (I’d correct the typo on the spelling of Chertoff’s name though)
I’ve emailed Kay a few times myself because I think she’s going wobbly on this issue. If she does, I won’t vote for her again and I still think she has ambitions to be governor.

I cannot think of a better replacement for Saxby.
As far as the president is concerned, I support him on all other issues, but I feel his conduct insofar as immigration is concerned, rises to an impeachable offense. Time to start talking about impeachment. It is also time to begin recall petitions for those who are in favor of this bill. Let’s get the idea across, that it will be the end of their political careers, if they try and ram this thing down our throats. The president’s inability to defend our borders, in my opinion, rises to the level of an impeachable offense.

It hasn’t gotten widespread play yet, but former U.S. Sen. Zell Miller made a little news this week in Macon when he declared that abortion has contributed to the military’s manpower shortage, the Social Security crisis, and the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States.
“How could this great land of plenty produce too few people in the last 30 years? Here is the brutal truth that no one dares to mention: We’re too few because too many of our babies have been killed,” Miller said.
“Over 45 million since Roe v. Wade in 1973. If those 45 million children had lived, today they would be defending our country, they would be filling our jobs, they would be paying into Social Security,” the former Georgia governor said. “Still, we watch as 3,700 babies are killed every single day in America. It is unbelievable that a nation under God would allow this.”
Why don't we hire the illegals to build the fence from the Mexican side? There are plenty of them and it obviously is a job American's won't do. It will give them them money they are seeking and keep them out of our country at the same time.

We all know Bush is a man who stands for what he believes regardless of polls.
This of course has been considered a great character attribute....when posters happen to agree with him.

Bush is a front pure and simple. He is going to do whatever the people he fronts for want. He may have his own beliefs; but they don’t matter when graft is involved. And please don’t disillusion yourself into believing that graft does not play a huge part.
It is unfortunate that whatever is behind your reasoning that you will not allow yourself to have a really good and honest debate with people. Your tit for tat is really boring and has little value into what is going on.
