I'm not going to call Bill O'Reilly a liar... yet, but... on his TV show today, he read off a laundry list of ridiculous "hate" statements like "I hate blacks," "Hillary should be assassinated" and "homosexuals are dogs" that he said he personally found on Free Republic and claims that they were posted here today. I do not believe that. I doubt that he personally logged on to FR and I doubt he found any such thing posted here today.
Who knows what we may have missed and is buried deep in our archives of millions of posts, but our readers do a pretty good job of alerting us to anything out of bounds that is posted and we pull it. Also, one of our readers found a couple of the quotes he alleges, and if they are the ones O'Reilly is complaining about, he took them way out of context. They were simply quotes in the articles posted not statements posted by FReepers.
As soon as he provides me a list of the alleged posts and their URLs, I'll believe him. If he doesn't... then... well, guess he'll deserve to be known as what he is.

If he doesn’t respond, well, the tactic is to ambush him in his driveway and shove a michrophone in his face.
That isn’t a bad idea. Lets see what kind of power new media really has.
FOX ought to fire him. He’s made a demonstrably false assertion and cannot back it up. How is this different from Dan Rather’s lies?
I’ve been a regular here since 98. I’ve NEVER seen anything even close to what O’Bloviator claims posted here.
He’s full of crap and shouldn’t be taken for anything more then a self promoting, faux conservative, con artist.
I honestly don’t know why anyone listens to or watches Bill O’Reilly at all ever. He isn’t entertaining. He doesn’t really believe in conservative principles. He says what he thinks he should say so as to keep an audience. And I hear he is a jerk in his private life... but that’s only a rumor.
That was disgusting. I caught the second airing and crept up to the screen in anticipation of a screen shot of FR. Too blurry for me to read anything especially as they kept scrolling, but I didn’t catch a string of words resembling what BOR claimed. Not that I have 20/20 vision, but...
I agree that if Mr. O’Reilly found such a string of words - and I wouldn’t put my rep on the line for HIS veracity - they came from whatever article originated a thread or were otherwise taken out of context. A FReeper using absurdity to make a point, for instance, often followed by “/s” to denote sarcasm for those in Rio Linda.
One thing about this site that’s always made me proud is how threatening posts and racist remarks especially are called out by FReepers themselves. Not just anonymously via the Report Abuse button either, though that’s possible, but often publicly chastised by fellow FReepers. The system works.

I have been here for ten years and Never have seen any thing like what BOR claims he has seen here. And no; I don’t read every word posted here! Perhaps you should!

Personally, I wouldn’t call someone a “liar” because I, myself, haven’t seen something that others have. Just my opinion.”
True, there is a massive amount of posts here, with threads that date waaaay back, that is why Bill O’ Reily should have supplied some sort of context/dates when those things were posted.
The rules are clear, no profanity, no personal attacks, no racism or violence in posts, doing so leads to getting banned.
I will say this, if in the mountain of posts here, someone said those things and it wasn’t caught, at worst it is poor public opinions made known to everyone, over at some Democrat websites they are posting pictures of President Bush copulating with farm animals.

One does not have to read every word here to know that it would not be wise to insist that this sort of thing never happens. Honesty is always the best policy.
If O’Reilly passed by a synagog and observed a swastika painted on it I suppose he would claim the congregation and rabbi were pro-nazis.
Then he turned around and played patty cake with Ford about left wing web sites
I can understand how he has a top rated show. The guy’s a smarmy fraud. Perfect for television.
