Thousands return to safer Iraqi capital

BAGHDAD - In a dramatic turnaround, more than 3,000 Iraqi families driven out of their Baghdad neighborhoods have returned to their homes in the past three months as sectarian violence has dropped, the government said Saturday.

Saad al-Azawi, his wife and four children are among them. They fled to Syria six months ago, leaving behind what had become one of the capital's more dangerous districts — west Baghdad's largely Sunni Khadra region.

The family had been living inside a vicious and bloody turf battle between al-Qaida in Iraq and Mahdi Army militiamen. But Azawi said things began changing, becoming more peaceful, in August when radical anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr ordered his Mahdi Army fighters to stand down nationwide.

When he and his family joined the flood of Iraqi refugees to Syria the streets were empty by early afternoon, when all shops were tightly shuttered. Now the stores stay open until 10 p.m. and the U.S. military working with the neighborhood council is handing out $2,000 grants to shop owners who had closed their business. The money goes to those who agree to reopen or first-time businessmen.

You just know the lefties will spin this to say that's the only reason there is good news in Iraq as the US is giving away money.

I know the article says grants, but you know the liberal spin. They will Blame Haliburton, and Bush.

Just yesterday Pelosi still stated the war in Iraq was a total failure. Does she think anyone is that stupid? Even the MSM is acknowledging the successes in the WOT, that even they can’t deny any longer.

Have more links on the success?

I’d like to ruffle a few feathers and post them elsewhere.

:)

There’s been enough links with Iraq to Al-Qaeda now that even the old argument that they weren’t there before we got there ain’t flying no more. Everyone now knows they are there and are questioning why pull out when we know they’re there.

Aw, screw 'em. They're a bunch of losers, anyway.

Baghdad's coming back.

And that just ROCKS. :-D

Donkeys running for President and holding leadership positions in the House and Senate all deeply saddened by the news. They truly are.

Everyday there’s something good coming from Iraq and hopefully the MSM keep reporting on it. MSNBC titled it “A Rough Homecoming”.

Media: “Thousands return to safer Iraqi capital — DAMMIT!”

I got that one from Rush. He verbally adds the “Dammit!” to any MSM news headline that compels them to report good news in, from, or about Iraq.
Good news for the Iraqi people & US forces is BAD news for the commies in the media & the Democratic Party.

You guys want to know what the leading Iraq-oriented headline is over at the Democratic Blunderground? Here it is:

“U.S. Military Deaths in Iraq at 3,850”

I’M NOT KIDDING! Check if out for yourselves.

It’s funny how the MSM, like the slimy slugs they are, are oh so slowwwwwly reporting this. I mean, if it were an IED or bomb that killed a dozen Iraqi’s or troops, the MSM would be over it like flies to manure. This is HUGE news, yet they treat it as insignificant. I finally believe we’ve overcome the hump, this war hasn’t been easy on our troops considering we’ve tried as best as we could to ease the collateral damage and whatnot.
