TO all the people who think that the illegal immigration debate is about electronic fences, NAFTA, Lou Dobbs and such, director Patricia Riggen and screenwriter Ligiah Villalobos offer a polite but emphatic rebuttal.

Immigration, say the women, is about survival. It's about learning to be invisible. It's about families. It's about love.

That, Riggen says, was the insight she uncovered while leafing through Villalobos' screenplay for "Under the Same Moon", a Spanish-language drama about a Mexican mother who comes to work in Los Angeles, leaving behind her young son across the border.

The U.S.-Mexican production, which will open on more than 200 screens in Los Angeles and other cities on Wednesday, is the first Latino-centered movie that Fox Searchlight has distributed, reflecting the major studios' interest in tapping into a rapidly growing market. It stars Kate del Castillo as the mother, Rosario; Adrian Alonso as her son, Carlitos; and an eclectic supporting cast that includes America Ferrera of "Ugly Betty" as a child smuggler and the norteño supergroup Los Tigres del Norte as themselves.

But several of the film's most memorable characters are nameless illegal immigrants shown struggling to reach el norte or, once there, struggling to make ends meet financially and not be sent back to Mexico. Reading over the script during pre-production, Riggen "suddenly discovered that all these characters have one thing in common."

"All these people risked their lives crossing the border, leaving everything behind, for love," says Riggen, who was born and raised in Guadalajara, studied film at Columbia University and has lived in Los Angeles for the last several years. "For love of their families who they're going to go reach, for love of their families who they leave behind and send money to. But it always has to do with love and family."

Your standard Hollywood issue leftist propaganda.

Now if Hollywood had done a movie on the costs imposed on U.S. citizens by the illegal aliens and their backers in the business lobby in DC and the Democrat party greedy for votes — that would be a movie worth seeing. This will be just another left-wing PC dud. I hope they spent and will lose $millions.

Now that we know what they look like, can we send their sorry butts home?

I know for a fact that in my Cinema class, my teacher seemed to say that Hollywood’s themes in choosing the subjects and socio-political elements in movies are motivated by populism but I could’ve told him that he was wrong. Just like with Runaway Jury it is like Hollywood is itching to get its quota of Left-Wing pablum puke. I actually saw a few trailers of this movie and instead of feeling happy and such I felt like I was watching propaganda from the Democratic Party.

Is there no Conservative left in Hollywood anymore? This and Stop loss, real winners :;gag::

Little known note: The biggest days for the theatres was in 1946 including The Best Years Of Our Lives. Betcha today’s Hollywood would’ve tried to release a movie on The Battle of the Bulge, Dresden and how bad the Atomic bomb was.

They, still, have yet to do one on Affirmative Action. Somehow I wouldn’t be surprised if some fool decided that they are going to do it in a month. Whoopee that Environmentalist, Gun Control, Illegal Immigrant maidenworkers(usually owned by rich white people) Hollywood. I swoon over your “courage” you flock of leftist marching morons.

“All these people risked their lives crossing the border, leaving everything behind, for love,” says Riggen, “

It’s about forever admitting that they must leave their native land to find opportunity, and forever failing to force the changes that might finally result in a successful Hispanic nation.

Hardly some glorious trek north.
