Ya don't say ... every day we see someone who wants to injects race into this presidential campaign. Often times it is coming right from the Big O himself. Other times it is coming from Democrats (like Bill Clinton) or other liberals. This time it comes from Timothy Noah on Slate.com.

Do you remember a few days ago when I read you a column from the Wall Street Journal about whether or not Barack Obama's skinniness would be a liability in the campaign?

Well according to Timothy Noah, this was a racist article. Was the article lacking in journalistic expertise? Perhaps. But racist? Timothy Noah is just asking for a good whopping with this one. Look at how hard he has to try to "prove" his point.
"When white people are invited to think about Obama's physical appearance, the principal attribute they're likely to dwell on is his dark skin. Consequently, any reference to Obama's other physical attributes can't help coming off as a coy walk around the barn. The sad fact is that any discussion of Obama's physical appearance is going to remind white people of the physical characteristic that's most on their minds."
I told you folks. Ultimately race is going to play a bigger an bigger role in this election. Now we have this Slate Magazine "journalist" telling us that referring to Obama's weight somehow constitutes a comment about his being black. This is honestly what this election has come down to. It is all about skin color. There will be virtually NOTHING that anyone can say about Barack Obama that will not, if negative, be about race.
You think this is bad during the election? Wait until he's president! Any disagreement with any Obama policy will be race based.
Racial polarization? You haven't seen anything yet.
Upon reflection, I think Paris Hilton’s comeback ad to McCain was racist because she kept referring to him as that “WHITE-haired dude.”
Heh Heh!
I like the way you spiked that one Eaker!
[Then you would support a non-smoker like Ted Kennedy? ]
How could you infer that? Only a dolt would come to that conclusion.
John McCain is old. Is that racist?
Hey...women weren’t allowed to own property, were only numbered on early census reports (like the slaves), could be abused with little fear of penalty and couldn’t vote until 1920. Not to mention discrimination in the workplace. Where’s my reparations? /sarc off
Struck a wee n00bie nerve did we?
Since you are obviously ignorant, I will explain my post.
It was noted that Obammy was still smoking. I take that to show weak character and, therefore “No will power, Just what I want in a leader!”
I didn’t feel it necessary to put a sarcasm tag on something SO obvious to anyone with an IQ over RT. Do you believe anyone would want “no will power” inn a leader? Sheee
Now, how you could come to the conclusion that I am going to vote for Ted Kennedy or any other non-smoker no matter any other characteristic of poor leadership ability, I cannot understand.
As to your smarmy “n00bie” comment, don’t let my date of arrival under this name fool you (although you are a fool). I have been on this forum since 1998.
And those were my last words on the subject.
Obama is not black.
He’s half Arab, half white.
Sign on dates are what counts ya pissy lil' missy. As to "ignorant" are you channeling Obama now? An idiot calling someone else ignorant?
“(I’m voting for McCain because he is white.)”
I’m voting for McCain because he is RIGHT.
If you say so — but I think you might want to try checking a bit further on that.
That reversal is not an entirely unique phenomena. A similar reversal occurred with the sun tan in the middle of the last century. Ruddy, tanned skin was once viewed as an indicator of the outdoor working man/laborer while the monied classes could be discerned by their pale, protected appearance. Largely due to Hollywood, the tan became a sign of wealth and leisure while pale appearances became the sign of those who could not afford a tropical vacation or a trip to the tanning spa.
I tend to hedge my bets with a well-worn farmer's tan.
Besides, this was already posted on FR so it must be true. ;)
