(write of certiorari) - A determination as to whether the big court will hear the case. Issuing a “certification” that they will take up the issue. Most appeals to highest court are discretionary; the court may take them or leave the lower court’s decision stand.
Whoa...I missed that. Do you have a link for the story?
Pelosi says voters misunderstood Prop. 8
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed deep disappointment on Friday that California voters approved Prop. 8, the measure banning same-sex marriage, and defended her ally, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, against critics who say his actions contributed to its passage.
In a wide-ranging interview with The Chronicle, Pelosi said she believes some voters might not have fully understood the initiative, which overturned a state Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage. The measure was approved 52 to 48 percent.
“Unfortunately, I think people thought they were making a statement about what their view of same-sex marriage was,” the San Francisco Democrat said. “I don’t know if it was clear that this meant that we are amending the Constitution to diminish freedom in our state.”

It still feels like a nightmare that I have yet to wake up from. Hey, I know I’ll get over it, eventually. But I LOVE my country, am annoyingly patriotic, tend to get too emotionally invested sometimes.
Wow,would that mean a new election?
One of the benefits of having the mute button on almost continually is that I seldom hear that awful Billy Mays.
No idea but ignoring a US Supreme Court justice is never a good idea.
YEah,same here,I just bumped up my work schedule from 50-65 hours per week, to compenstate for the new socialism.
Thank you, anniegetyourgun.
I agree.
With me, though, it is not so much anger but just a total lack of interest. I can’t even imagine watching the news on TV within 90 days...barring another 9/11 type catastrophe.
I rather get my news from FR and a few other places. I just cant take anymore of those yammering news people.
My best regards
Thanks very much.
Are you serious about that criticism of The One?
Really?
Dear God.
I think they will. Dems tend to ignore rulings that don’t go in their favor.
Not sure rg...but I can’t see how they couldn’t have another election.
The head of the Dem ticket would have been removed the courts could rule that the vote for the folks who actually voted for The Rookie has been disenfranchised and that is has to b held again.
Thanks for the link..scary as hell.
Here is the more important question: Will Obama stop the deployment of the anti-missile defence system not only in Poland but elsewhere, including in the US? Obama has said it must work 100% before deployment. That is politicianspeak for killing the system or at least delaying it including reducing funding. This is not good.
