You Know Chrysler is Toast Because..
Blog Maverick ^ | 12/22/08 | Marc Cuban

The CEO takes out a fullpage ad in the Wall Street Journal today to thank the American Public for "investing" in Chrysler.

Lets see, is there anything more idiotic than spending more than 100k dollars on a full page ad "thanks for letting me waste your money" ad ? Does it make it worse that its a business publication where the readers might just recognize the stupidity of wasting money on ad dollars that doesn't even try to sell the product ? How does it make the next unemployed Chrysler worker feel that their entire year's salary just went for a single, ridiculous ad?......

If the American people wanted to invest, they would have bought stock.

The dreaded “K-car” was what it was supposed to be, a small, light, front wheel drive auto with decent reliability.

I have driven Chryslers all my adult life, mostly Darts. Right now my 1989 Chrysler Fifth Avenue (M-body) is in its final days (everything dying EXCEPT the engine and transmission).

The 225, 318 and 383 powerplants were solid.

When gas was $4 a gallon, a lot of people took their aged Omnis and Horizons out of storage and put them back on the road.

I would take a K-Car over a Vega or a Pinto. I would take a full size U.S. car over anything that Japan has to offer. (An Avalon just isn’t large enough).

Chrysler certainly had its clunkers (Cordoba, Aspen, Volare, the Mitsubishi-engined minivans), but so has GM and Ford.

It might be time for them for Chrysler to go, but for some of us, we will continue to have happy memories of some fine automobiles.

Can you dig up a pic of an old Road Runner or Barracuda, and do a side by side? I swear they look identical..

I didn’t know the Camaro was still being produced. I was remembering the ones from the 1970s

It isn’t. It’s scheduled for RE-introduction as a 2010 model, if they can get the CAR CZAR to go along............

When I saw the name of the equity firm (Cerberus) that Daimler conned into taking that dog off their hands I knew they were toast.

From Wikipedia. Cerberus is the name given to the entity which, in Greek and Roman mythology, is a multi-headed dog which guards the gates of Hades, to prevent those who have crossed the river Styx from ever escaping.
