WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) and John McCain (R-Arizona) today issued the following statement regarding the executive order put forth by President Obama calling for the closure of the prison at Guantanamo:
We support President Obamas decision to close the prison at Guantanamo, reaffirm Americas adherence to the Geneva Conventions, and begin a process that will, we hope, lead to the resolution of all cases of Guantanamo detainees, said Senator Lindsey Graham and Senator John McCain. The executive orders issued today constitute an important step in the right direction but leave several major issues unaddressed.
Numerous difficult issues remain, Senator Graham and Senator McCain continued. Present at Guantanamo are a number of detainees who have been cleared for release but have found no foreign country willing to accept them. Other detainees have been deemed too dangerous for release, but the sensitive nature of the evidence makes prosecution difficult. The militarys proper role in processing detainees held on the battlefield at Bagram, Afghanistan, and other military prisons around the world must be defended, but that is left unresolved. Also unresolved is the type of judicial process that would replace the military commissions. We believe the military commissions should have been allowed to continue their work. We look forward to working with the President and his administration on these issues, keeping in mind that the first priority of the U.S. government is to guarantee the security of the American people.

Tape a brick to it so the postage will cost the RNC more money.

The executive orders issued today constitute an important step in the right direction but leave several major issues unaddressed. No **** geniuses!
The devil is in the details.
Short of using a time machine, and ordering no prisoners taken (after all, these are terrorists not combatants!) I don't see a rational alternative. Not even the suggestion of one, ever, that I can recall, by anyone!

Better to purge the RINOs and takeover the GOP.The brand is too tainted now to be of any good whatsoever.
Had I not already become an independent because of McCain, today would have caused it to happen. When people called him "Dob Dole redux," they insulted Bob Dole.

Not a dime from me until I see some b*lls!Funny. I just sent in a comment to the Republicans saying exactly that. The Mrs had received a call from the Republicans asking for money and she had agreed. So I was paying bills this morning and saw it. Instead, I wrote 0 on the contribution and attached a note saying not a penny until they can prove they intend to actually fight these communists rather than collaborate with the enemy.

Almost 150 years of “brand” ID.
Don’t nix it.
Fix it.

I don't think you fully comprehend how long it would take to form aviable third party.
Without the conservatives, the Republican Party isn't going to be winning many elections in the foreseeable future. They lost the House and Senate majorities in 06 and continued to move leftward. They lost the White House in 08 and much of their leadership continues to move leftward.
Options:
(1) Conservatives suck it up and continue to vote for whomever the RNC gives them.
(2) Conservatives leave and the GOP continues to wander in the wasteland of minority status.
Who blinks? The RNC or the Conservatives? Many conservatives blinked in 08 and voted for McCain. But McCain still lost because enough conservatives didn't just suck it up.

“In his own words” for all to see on every thread...
I would do it however, I'm freepin’ with my cell phone and cannot copy and paste.

Sounds like they may be getting a lot of similar letters. Good. It’s about time we hit them where it really hurts... their pocketbooks. Next stop.... throw the collaborators out on their rears.

I voted as I didn’t want to waste my vote on a third party which had no chance of winning, this election was to important to do a protest vote.
I looked at it like I voted for Sarah not this RINO

(3) Purge the RINOs. Elect a true conservative chairman. It's a much smarter play.

I e-mailed McQueeg yesterday. Told him that if he was going to play the role of a Socialist, he should at least have the decency to change parties.
