That sounds like a dandy was to boost recession-hit sales of existing gas-powered cars thru 2005.

Same "ends" here in the US with Government Moters and driving the car company to bankruptcy... just different "means".

Still, Halvorsen said she knew of no other finance minister in the world who was even arguing for such a goal.

Who wants to be ahead of their time on a stupid idea?

Liberals really don’t think things out.

Electric cars require lithium made batteries.

Lithium comes from strip-mining and batteries disposed of are bad for water supplies.

Then to send the electricity through the power lines to power the battery, tons of coal must be burned every year.

This is not taking in account the manufacturing factors, such as the amount of gas used for the lithium mining trucks, the battery manufacturing camps.

I guess it makes everyone feel good though.

Fabulous idea. Let us know how those battery operated electric cars work when it's -55 Deg. F in the winter there.

That should get you at least 5 miles down the road, if you don't drain battery power by running the heater or the windshield defroster.

Norway is prosperous for the first time in modern history for one reason and one reason only: North Sea Oil Reserves! If they really wanted to reduce fossil fuel use, they would suspend exports of oil and ride their smug self-righteousness right back into poverty and obscurity.

In 2065, Norway will look like Cuba today with a large number of classic 2015 cars still being driven around (or pulled by oxen).

"This is much more realistic than people think when they first hear about this proposal," she told Reuters

Kinda like your dentist telling you that "this is not going to hurt much" as he straps you down on the table while announcing that the office ran out of painkillers the day before...

Freezing in the dark, and STUCK IN ONE PLACE. Nice. Have all the modern industrialized nations gone totally nuts?

Norway should go one step further by banning cars that use any materials that are a product of oil or oil produced energy. Go all the way.

Right or wrong, you can always tell a Norwegian - you just can’t tell him much.

Dandy! Yet another item to add to the ever growing list of why Norway isn’t (and never will be) a major player in the World to any degree.
