SOUTH BEND, Ind., May 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- Randall Terry submits the following statement concerning his arrest at Notre Dame on Friday, May 1, 2009, and is available for interviews:

Six of us went to Notre Dame on Friday, May 1, to make a visual statement about child-killing and ND's invitation to President Obama to speak at the '09 graduation.

We pushed baby carriages with dolls covered with stage blood, and a bumper sticker stating:

Obama '09 One Dead baby at a Time Notre Dame

William Kee and I were arrested immediately. The others were given the chance to leave, and did so.

I was taken alone to a cell on campus where I prayed the sorrowful mysteries. With each mystery, my fear for Notre Dame grew; Jesus, betrayed by Judas and abandoned by His friends; "He came unto His own, and his own did not receive Him;" "I received these wounds in the House of my friends…" The irony was chilling.

We were transferred to jail – at Notre Dame's order – for our peaceful, visual defense of the babies; meanwhile Notre Dame plunges ahead with her plan to honor the premier child-slayer of the western hemisphere.

Obama will be honored and welcomed on campus, though the innocent die at his command; we were jailed, and banned forever from the campus, because we defended those dying at his order.

I had the unshakable sense that Mary herself wept at this evil, and the dread that Notre Dame is being weighed in the balance by God, and found wanting.

But my fear goes deeper. I fear for "pro-life Catholics" who condemn our actions; I fear for lukewarm clergy who look askance at our measures; I fear for "Catholic press" that lacks the courage or integrity to even cover our activities, is embarrassed by our tactics, ashamed at our boldness, and seduced to silence by the fear of men.

Yes: we will stand trial for "trespass;" but the arrogant and the fearful in the Church Militant that "trespass against us" by denigrating what it means to be militant are on trial as well.

A dreadful reckoning is coming. The blood of the innocent cries from the ground to God for justice. We will all be judged for our part in allowing this slaughter to continue. We will be held accountable for what we have done, and what we have failed to do; for every idle word, and every silent denial of Christ.

The Obama/Notre Dame harlotry is the "consummation" of Catholic America's godless marriage to moral relativism, lukewarmness, and unholy pacifism.

"When the time comes, as it surely will, when we face that awesome moment, the final judgment, I've often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no advocates, you are there alone standing before God -- and a terror will rip your soul like nothing you can imagine. But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I think there'll be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world -- and they will plead for everyone who has been in this movement. They will say to God, 'Spare him, because he loved us!'" Congressman Henry Hyde

I'm not sure if these kind of actions are productive. I wish Mr. Terry would try an approach like Msgr. Phillip J. Reilly

Praying and counseling work better.

From Baal to Obama.

Killing babies has become a religious ritual for ritual.

Freedom of choice begins BEFORE conception, NOT after it.

From Baal to Obama.

Killing babies has become a religious ritual for liberals.

Arrested for a sign and a prop? He should sue both Notre Dame and the police department and give pro-lifers a trial to talk about.

The graduates at NDU have created a spiritual, dignified, and effective protest to the school’s feting of Obama. Randall Terry’s entrance turns all into his personal sideshow. Let Terry stay home and let the students of the School of Our Lady develop their own, more effective, actions than Terry’s “Hey I’m here arrest me!” carnival.

Mr. Terry is quite obviously a melodramatic fanatic who is doing nothing to advance the resolution of a complex issue.

Thank God for the Randall Terry’s who made a big stink about killing babies. They might have been the ones who have kept the mercy of God at hand and held back His judgment.

RANDALL TERRY LECTURES BISHOP D’ARCY
April 15, 2009

Catholic League president Bill Donohue issued the following remarks on a column by pro-life activist Randall Terry that appeared in yesterday’s Fort Wayne Journal Gazette:

“Three weeks ago, Archbishop Raymond Burke, the former St. Louis archbishop who is now working in the Vatican, publicly chastised Randall Terry for misrepresenting a meeting they had in Rome. Now Terry has stepped in it again, this time having the gall to lecture Fort Wayne-South Bend Bishop John D’Arcy for not contacting him before he called on Catholics not to demonstrate at this year’s Commencement at Notre Dame; President Barack Obama will be given an honorary degree, something which D’Arcy strongly opposes. For some bizarre reason, Terry thinks Bishop D’Arcy should have checked in with him before he made his prudent decision.

“Terry doesn’t know when to quit. This quote is a gem: ‘D’Arcy has stepped far beyond his canonical authority by urging the faithful to abandon the babies—and thereby abandon Christ—and to honor Obama and Jenkins [the Notre Dame president] with our silent cooperation.’ This is arrogance on stilts: Terry just became a Catholic in 2005 and now he is an authority on canon law. Worse, he accuses Bishop D’Arcy, who is strongly pro-life, of abandoning babies and Christ.

“The problem with pro-life zealots is that they expect everyone to line up single file and do exactly what they want. Thus do they play to the worst stereotype floated by the pro-abortion camp. Terry needs to take a deep breath and get off his high horse.”

There is always room for a full spectrum of protest, short of violence or lawbreaking.

Terry did NOT break the law.

WHY was Terry banned from “trespassing” on campus? I thought that university campuses are generally supposed to be venues for free speech. And although it is a private university, the public is normally welcome to walk around the campus.

Apparently it’s OK to demonstrate for GLBT issues at Notre Dame, but it’s not allowable to demonstrate for LIFE. It’s OK to stage the Vagina Monologues on campus, but it’s not allowed to speak to students about the evils of abortion.

No doubt the sight of bloody babies is a gruesome one, but just who is it who is killing these babies? It’s not Randall Terry. It’s Barack Hussein Obama.

Yes. Some here object to his style. I'm all for prayer and example and dancing the minuet in most cases, but we are dealing with mass murder here. All hell breaking loose would seem appropriate. YMMV.

I can’t think of a university that allows non-students to demonstrate on campus.

Praying and counseling work better.

Are you insane?

Our society has gone from the opinion abortion is "morally questionable" to "we don't care if it's murder."

"Praying and counseling" work better than what?

First of all, Terry did trespass in violation of an order from ND. As with all private property, the owner has the choice about who is allowed on it. It is private property...something we on Free Republic ought to value.

Second, ND does allow pro life protests. During the Spring Football Game weekend when thousands of visitors decend upon campus, for example, there was hundreds (or was it thousands?) of crosses set up on the quad representing all of the babies that were aborted in the time it takes to play a football game.

Frankly, I know a lot of pro-life ND alums who are against the Obama visit, yet they are ticked off at Randall Terry and his antics. He is damaging his cause among the ND community.

And he should spare us his attempt to liken himself to Jesus. To paraphrase a famous quote, “I know Jesus, and Randall, you’re no Jesus.”
