Mitt Romney: Tea Party movement is great as long as they vote Republican

Hard hitting interview? Sure. Granted, Scooby Doo would have probably been more intimidating, but still...

Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney survived a grueling Newsmax TV appearance Monday after facing questions like: "What is your take on President Obama?" and what his thoughts were on Sarah Palin.

That's not to say the whole thing was a waste of time. The ultra-conservative program did get interesting when it ended he was asked about the Tea Party movement.

Tea Party

Does he think it will have an impact on the upcoming election? Of course. But the Tea Party'ers need to play by the rules, he said. If they win in a primary, great. If not, toe the line.

"If we go in the direction of dividing our conservative effort in the general elections, why we'll just basically turn the country over to Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid and that would be very sad indeed...," he said.

If the Tea Party candidate doesn't fall in line? "Divide and fail is the result," he said.

You get the nomination Mitt, and you'll get the same amount of votes from me as Mccain did. Zero.

The reason the TEA Parties exist is because we're tired of “playing by the rules” and “toeing the line”.

That's how we get stuck with RiNOs like YOU!

I'll vote Republican but I won't vote RINO! Mitt would need an extreme makeover to pass muster!

Does he think we are just protesting for something to do?

I’ve always been open to a conservative alternative to republicans, but anything other than voting republican this year, and in ‘12 would be an absolute disaster.

The only hope our nation has right now is to get some REAL opposition into power that can slow down or stop the agenda of the Leftists. Right now that hope lies with the Republicans. In my mind, the republicans have one more chance to get it right.

The answer is to expend energy and money in the primaries and make sure conservatives are on the ballot in the general election.

From that point spend it all on marginal districts where conservatives are running.

Conservatives that make it through the primary in safe districts can fend for themselves!

No, he doesn’t. I wonder if he has even been to a Tea Party.

I hate to pee on his party, but he can probably expect to see a huge Libertarian vote from all this.

I’m getting to the point that I’m not so sure I care which party is voted in.

I want the old voted out and I want all new HONEST ones.

Ones that care about the CONSTITUTION and following it— more than than they care about wacky party ideas.

I want them to care more about this country than lobbyist, money and campaigns!

Maybe I’m just in a bad mood and will think better later...but for now I just want some good clean honest folk who want to follow the constitution and not some party ideology.

Please! Not another makeover. He's had plenty.

Romneycare is a liberal. There is no "we" that includes him in reference to conservatism.

That’s the problem with Romney. He’s all about getting elected, but he has no core values.

He doesn’t care what the Republican party stands for or does, just so long as we vote Republican.
