President Barack Obama on Thursday set out his plan for the future of the U.S. space agency NASA. His vision includes an eventual manned flight to Mars, although not as soon as many Americans had hoped. The president went to Florida's Kennedy Space Center to defend his controversial proposal to change America's course in space.
President Obama says he wants American space exploration to "leap into the future," and not continue on the same path. "By the mid-2030s, I believe we can send humans to orbit Mars and return them safely to earth, and a landing on Mars will follow, and I expect to be around to see it," he said.
At the Kennedy Space Center, where U.S. space missions begin, Mr. Obama unveiled his proposal for the future of NASA beyond the end of the space shuttle program, which has only three flights remaining.
The president's plan would give private companies almost $6 billion to build their own spacecraft and fly them to the International Space Station. It would also extend the station's life by five years.

OK I will say it, he can have the first ride.....As Joe Biden would put it, "one small step for man, one slightly larger step for a "big effin' ego"!

2030 or 2035? Not exactly bold, fast, visionary leadership! The last time a president proposed sending humans beyond Earth orbit we did it in less than 8 years. Granted the NASA budget was much larger as a percentage of the federal total then but it is hardly inspiring to be told *maybe* Americans will head to Mars in a quarter century.

It won't happen at all, and another question:
Will there be an America in 2030? (see Revelation 18 for details)

If we could make us of ramjets or nuclear power-it would be a hell of a lot easier.
Again with the money that is spent on foreign aid, pensions on civil servants along with money being spent on developing new weapons which we don’t need.
We could have a base on Mars.
Best thing to do though would be to set up either on the Moon or in the L1 orbit. Then develop an industrial base where lack of gravity would lead to innovation towards colonizing other planets.
If not America then someone else.

Let’s send the Citizen of the Universe to another planet.
Everything he said today was a lie. They must have laughed on Air Force One all the way back to DC.

Use Apollo type hardware for a Mars Mission? The idea seems familiar,
The most cost effective way to get to and from Mars was put forward by Dr. Robert Zubrin in his book
The Case for Mars http://www.amazon.com/Case-Mars-Robert-Zubrin/dp/0684827573/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_ttl_in
In this plan, called Mars Direct, Dr. Zubrin points out that taking liquid Hydrogen from Earth, and reacting it with CO2 in the Martian atmosphere could produce enough Methane and oxygen to fuel an Earth return vehicle

Yes, Obama, his cronies and globalist elite handlers are gloating behind the scenes as another public deception operation is deemed a success, with the complicit help of the corporate controlled government mouthpieces.

2020 IS A GO!
Yes we've been there, and yes we're going back. We are also challenging ourselves regarding the quest for Mars and answering the puzzle of the evolution of life on mars. This will help guide us in terraforming Mars and creating a dense atmosphere. Yes we will utilized robotic probes. This president, however, cannot be trusted. The Russians used the international space station to recon Georgia prior to their invasion. Without a civilian heavy lift capability we are surrendering all the years of effort in constructing the station to the Russians. Does anyone still remember the space trash called Mir? Comrade Obama america stepped off the path of heavy lift capabilities in going the route of the shuttle. We are returning to the Saturn 5 style lift capability because it is superior as a lift vehicle. We refuse to scrap all our progress for your personal ego and expertise on everything for everyone. We are not fooled and do not buy your vision for a future of space without American Leadership. Escape vehicle- Comrade Obama you are lost in Space!

I watched some of his speech to the Kennedy Space Center people. According to some reports he was to speak to NASA worker bees. But the crowd was actually made up managers. In any case, I couldn’t help but marvel at The Marxist Empty Suit standing there telling these folks how and what to do in space.
The bottom line message was, it seemed to me, if NASA did what Onada wanted it would get money. I thought he basically gave all those people the finger.

Personally, I would donate the cost of a one-way fare to Cuba for him and his family. Why waste tax payer money sustaining him in prison.
Hmmm, I wonder if Michelle would be happy in Cuba with the kids. Doesn’t she like expensive things? Might be interesting to see who showed up at the airport for the short ride to a communist paradise.
