(CNN) - Americans are divided over whether President Barack Obama or his predecessor has performed better in the White House, according to a new national poll.
And a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday also indicates in the battle for Congress, Republicans hold large advantages over the Democrats among independents, men and blue-collar whites. The poll also indicates that Republicans are much more enthusiastic than Democrats to vote.
By 47 to 45 percent, Americans say Obama is a better president than George W. Bush. But that two point margin is down from a 23 point advantage one year ago.

King George III will poll better than 0bama.
It scares me to think what Romney might do if elected. I hope I am wrong about that if he wins. I used to think he might be OK in until 2009 when he flipped again:
It was great to have a prez who loved his country.
Wasn't there also one of President Reagan raising a toast?
I don't care what their critics say, both of them were MY own kind of Presidents!
My favorite picture of Bush was in his flight suit.
Could someone please post it here. Thanks
You have good taste! That flight suit pic is burned into my memory bank....w/me ALL the time. LOL
I’m really disappointed in Black America. It’s reached a point where, unless I know they’re conservative, I’m afraid to even ask a black friend why they support Obama, and to explain it to me.
I realize the struggles they’ve been through, but it saddens me that Obama simply being black trumps all logic and common sense for ~95% of the black population. It’s as if all the things MLK fought for have been negated in one election cycle. This time they’ve put THEMSELVES back on the plantation.
Bush was flawed, and I often thought he was too liberal. However, he did what he felt was right for America, the nation he loved.
Obama does what he feels is the right thing to destroy America, land that he hates.
If you can't trust a man to be true to his wife and vows, how can you trust him at all? IMO, he had no character...just like his li'l brother and his father.
I'm with you....still a Nixon backer!
Yes sir, I do miss you
It is fascinating they are even asking this question. Is this a norm in polling?
I hate to say it but you have a point.
I’m with you there.
Bush’s second term was especially negative for conservatives. But overall both his terms were poisoned by the 2000 election and by his “brand” of compassionate conservatism”-— not conservatism at all.
RE: “I saw a Bush-Cheney bumpersticker on a car yesterday. While this might not be unusual... what made it unusual was that it was a new car - no more than a few months old, as it still had its paper plates.”

What? You’re in So. Cal? Where did you see the sticker? I’m in the SFV and would get into an accident if I saw one of those stickers because my area is SO leftist. I must admit the Obama stickers are getting harder to spot though. I’ve seen a few more Don’t Tread on Me stickers lately (I’ve had mine a LONG time).
Yep, I like that one, too! :)
Like most Americans, I was shocked when John F. Kennedy was assassinated on what you rightly characterize as a terrible day, November 22, 1963. The murder of the President of the United States brought no joy whatsoever to me. Regardless of what you may think, I'm not planning to host a celebration when the anniversary comes in a few weeks.
As was also the case when FDR died while in office, I was saddened and mourned the loss. It was likewise with me when John's brother Robert was cruelly murdered in 1968.
Like most Conservatives (and with the dimension of being a Christian), I am able to distinguish between the policies and the person. That too was evident here on FR not too long ago when Jimmy Carter was hospitalized when prayers were offered by a number of posters for his recovery.
FDR, JFK, Carter, Clinton and Obama are among the worst presidents in history and certainly in my lifetime. Without a doubt, I stand firm in my contempt for their policies and the shame they have brought to America. And I wish (or wished) that they all live beyond the years predicted by the actuarial tables so that they'll realize just how wrong they were.
