BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation today filed suit in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey against several New Jersey officials for deprivation of civil rights under color of law.

SAF is joined in the lawsuit by the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs, Inc. and six private citizens whose applications for permits to carry have been denied generally on the grounds that they have not shown a “justifiable need.” One of the plaintiffs is a kidnap victim.......

Yes it is. They filed in Maryland too. MD’s AG is stalling.

BTTT. Even though my home in NJ is on the market and I’m looking to move to PA with my family once it sells, this is great news. I was wonder how long after the recent supreme court rulings it was going to be until suits like this were filed. Alan Gura and the SAF have been doing quite a bit of heavy lifting lately.

Anyone have details on the filing? Is the SAF going after these people personally under 43 USC 1983 or the like? I hope so!!!

Thanks for posting this. Once again the SAF "Runs to the sound of the guns" into the legal battlefields where the NRA appears to fear treading.

This NRA Life Member will continue supporting the SAF over the NRA.

If you go to: www.saf.org , you can download the pdf that has the actual complaint on it. This is HUGE news. I can’t wait to see how the media will be proclaiming the “Wild West” and bloodshed in the streets of Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, and Camden tomorrow. Morons that they are. Christie will win even more points if he supports this. Definitely a step in the right direction for the people of New Jersey. Kick some ass, Mr. Gura!!!

While I would like nothing more than for Christie to support the SAF's efforts, I have my doubts about Christie doing the right thing:

HANNITY: Are there any issues where you are, quote, moderate to left as a Republican?

CHRISTIE: Listen, I favor some of the gun-control measures we have in New Jersey.

HANNITY: Bad idea.

CHRISTIE: Listen, we have a densely-populated state, and there's a big hand gun problem in New Jersey. Now, I don't support all the things that the governor supports by a long stretch. But I think on guns — certain gun control issues, looking at it from a law-enforcement perspective, seeing how many police officers were killed, we have an illegal gun problem in New Jersey.

HANNITY: Should every — should every citizen in the state be allowed to get a licensed weapon if they want one?

CHRISTIE: In New Jersey, that's not going to happen, Sean.

HANNITY: Why?

CHRISTIE: Listen, the Democratic legislature we have, there's no way those type of things — listen, at the end of the day, what I support are common sense laws that will allow people to protect themselves, but I also am very concerned about the safety of our police officers on the streets, very concerned. And I want to make sure that we don't have an abundance of guns out there.

You know what? The next time he’s at a town hall meeting, or on the radio, people should really take him to task on this. Wasn’t he quoted once (when referring to Obamacare), as saying that if it’s unconstitutional for the rest of the country, then it’s unconstitutional for New Jersey? If that’s the case, he needs to buck up, and go with the flow. It’s about damned time that NJ is brought in sync with the rest of the saner states as it applies to 2A rights: CCW with minimal restrictions, an end to one gun a month, and an AWB ban. All the legislation on the books here has done absolutely nothing to stem crime. I’m really surprised I didn’t see anything about this on the local media. Then again, I guess I’m not surprised. They want this one swept under the rug.

It will make headlines should the SAF and the ANJRPC prevail.

Could be a year or two, maybe more. The state attorney general Christie appointed is a raging left wing anti so if heels are dragged this can get drawn out. Paula Dow is named in the suit though, so this could get interesting.
