Democrats and Media are not Sarah Palin’s Biggest Problem
self | jimjohn

Posted on 01/16/2011 7:10:26 AM PST by jimjohn

Okay, the dust has settled and even rank-and-file democrats know that Sarah Palin and others on the right had nothing to do with the massacre in Tucson on January 8, 2011. Yet we know the attacks on Palin won’t stop. We get that. Thank you media, for detailing for us how irrelevant she is by taking the only meaningful statement on the matter - a 7+ minute video and text message - and reducing it to a record breaking two-word sound bite. Priceless. But some of us also know there only one reason the media and the left can continue this fruitless line of attack – which exposes Palin biggest problem.

Has Palin yet articulated her views on immigration? And I’m talking about something more than the mindless ‘illegal-bad, legal-good’ soundbites we usually hear from Republicans.

Palin denies that she is for amnesty, however since her interview for univision in 2008 through today she is for a pathway to citizenship for the ~40 million illegal aliens in the US. Palin's views are very similar to McCain's.

"Taking care of Business"

vs.

Obaama / bin Biden

"Taking care of OURSELVES, bureaucrats, University elitists, unions, illegal aliens, and third-generation welfare queens (in that order)"

I know where *my* vote's going.

I wasn’t going after her and letting the others go. The post is about Palin, that’s why I asked about her. I seem to remember her being interviewed on Fox one time, and I think she actually referenced the Statue of Liberty when talking about immigration, and that is almost always a bad sign. I want to here more from her on this.

As to the others;
Mitt - I don’t trust him. I would expect him to support amnesty eventually.
Huckabee - Huckabee suffers from a bad case of White Guilt, and would be terrible on immigration. He has a history of nauseating, leftist-style rhetoric on the issue. He strikes me as another W, which again, would be very bad.
Thune - He has a history of voting against a path to citizenship for illegals, so that’s a good sign. I don’t know about his views on reforming legal immigration.
Daniels - Too early to say. Some of his rhetoric indicates he’d support a path to citizenship for illegals, but as governor I think he opposed drivers licenses for illegals.
Newt - He would no doubt be horrible. He seems to be one of those who buys the whole ‘Hispanics are natural Republicans’ line.

Here are some links:

Q "To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?"
A "I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, ..." [because it's humane].

Thank you for the information. So Palin does support a path to citizenship, which is amnesty, whether she or O’Reilly, or McCain, or Bush wants to admit it or not.

That is the same as saying she supports the complete demographic destruction of the GOP, or at least of a Republican party that leans conservative.

But to be fair, on that mark she is no different than many (maybe most) leading Republicans. We haven’t had a good Republican standard-bearer on immigration since Calvin Coolidge. Well, maybe Eisenhower.

Fred Thompson had the best immigration plan of any candidate last time not named Tancredo. It did not contain a path to citizenship for illegals. It sought to reform legal immigration by ending the absurd Diversity Visa program and by ending extended-family chain migration. How I wish he had gotten into the race sooner and with vigor.

But getting back to Palin. It seems she would be no worse on immigration than Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani, or Newt.

From your keyboard to God’s monitor screen!

I just have the cruds of the bunch of turncoat pantywaist caspar milquetoast “men” in Washington, DC so badly that I am ready to put it in the hands of Palin and Bachmann!

Case in point: The Republican majority has agreed to intermingled seating during the State of the Union Lie-fest Show, so they can buddy-up and hold hands with the democRATS!

No Mr. Troll, we need her expertise and courage in the White House to call the shots on the dismantling of the DC tyranny machine, and we need her there now, not in 2012 when it will be too late.
