Speaking as someone who voted for Santorum and who doesn't like what the pilot said: unless there's documentation that she was coddled or that she received her promotions due to affirmative action, I think we on Free Republic need to respect the service of our veterans.

I'm not saying that documentation doesn't exist, only that we need to give veterans the benefit of the doubt until proved otherwise.

That includes women veterans and veterans who say things we don't like.

Well, there's the problem with affirmative action - - the default conclusion is that anybody who is not a white male must have been coddled to their current position in the name of political correctness. If I was black (for example) I would be beside myself with rage at the Democrats and their affirmative action pandering. Imagine being brilliant and working hard to succeed, only to have others always look at you with suspicion.

I cannot help but recall the stories of women Navy pilots who were unqualified, but coddled and promoted until they finally killed themselves and/or did $millions$ worth of damage. ...And then sued when their records of incompetence were made public.
