I think Alexis de Toqueville would disagree.

So the left is providing a religious litmus test for presidential candidates?

Oh, yeah, Santorum’s Americanized version of Catholicism is the very same thing as radical Islam in Pakistan. Honor killings and all. Better go back home before it’s too late.

It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.

-George Washington. (but who ya gonna believe? An old dead white guy or some clown named Fareem)

There is no comparison. Santorum isn’t calling for any theocracy, although he does believe America has lost her moral compass. That’s a far cry from the hatred fomenting in Pakistan. Islam is hate.

This seems to be just another angle the MSM will take in tearing down our nominee(s).

Founding Fathers emphasis on their Christianity in the Declaration of Independence is not good for democracy

THERE, fixed it.

I’m not a Santorum supporter, but this article is ridiculous. Santorum isn’t calling on his supporters to MURDER those who disagree with him, last time I checked. Comparing his approach to that of Islam is a slander to Santorum, and I’m not even a fan of the guy.

Well ... then it's a good thing we live within a democratic republic instead of a pure democracy, wherein we are endowed by our Creator with inalienable rights that cannot be taken from us by a simple majority ruling.

Santorum may be a bit quixotic, but his policy vision does not come even within a light year of a mullocracy.

This Moose is either clueless or dissembling.

Watching Rick Santorum rise in the polls by positioning himself as the real Christian presidential candidate is like watching the sequel of a horror movie — one I literally lived through in the 1980s while growing up in Pakistan. There, another religious zealot, Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, played the lead role of the real Muslim.

Gee, this strawman is so tough to knock down!?

Ummmmmmmmmmmm.........lesssseeeee......

Oh?! Here ya go:

1. Santorum is a Christian

2. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq was a Muslim

Other than that....his analogy is spot on!

Good, democracy is mob rule tip toeing on anarchy. We are a republic and our founding fathers proudly expressed that fact and denounced democracies.

Please - apples and oranges.

The intolerant, murderous, genocidal Islamists can hardly be compared to Christians, who believe in peace, love, and tolerance for all (the very rare nutjob notwithstanding). Not to mention our 1st Amendment stops the fedgov ever trying to institute a state sanctioned religion, and then there is popular culture and political correctness that has little patience for anything Christian nowadays.

Some people just can't or won't acknowledge the differences. I'm an agnostic so have no dog in the fight other than wanting to live in peace.

Someone replied to an article today on FR that listed the atrocities committed around the world by muslims in just the month of February - so far.

I always go back to: When was the last time in current times this rock saw an individual or group of Christians murder/mutilate/rape and call for the extinction of a peoples in the name of Jesus Christ (forget the Crusades - ancient history)? The recent worse thing that Christians want is not be forced to pay health costs that run opposite their beliefs - THE HORROR! Yet, that is a big issue with so many leftist/socialists, but they completely ignore what the mayhem Islamists do every day.

The Left always tries to confuse people with the idea that Christianity is just as dangerous as radical Islam. This confusion causes people to think that Christian morality is bad in the public sector because it will lead to outrageous policy—like what you see in some theistic nations in the Middle East. The fact is, atheistic, or secular thinking is religion too. The question is, does secular thinking promote a society to obey unenforceable laws? If the answer is no, then secularism is a failed system. If we examine the Judeo-Christian model, we see a successful system that has had centuries of evidence to prove that it works and offers the most freedom for its citizens. Such promotes the citizen to obey unenforceable laws which translates into a productive society.

There is good theism and there is bad theism. Most would agree that theistic Satanism is a bad theism. I will not take the time to judge which theistic model is better than another. I only say that you can judge them by their fruits. It is good that we have a Biblical golden rule to use in such questions.

News for Faheem Younus: Christianity is not the same as Islam. Go back to Pakistan if you don’t like it.
