Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Tom Frieden vowed to "stop Ebola in its tracks" in the United States while acknowledging that the Dallas outbreak could become larger than one case.
"I'm not going to promise that we can stop this at just one case, but I can tell you we have the advantage because the right steps are being taken," Frieden wrote late Thursday in an op-ed for CNN.
"The fact is that CDC has been preparing for this day, working around the clock with local and state health departments I am therefore confident we will stop Ebola in its tracks here in the United States."
Frieden is seeking to maintain public calm about the Dallas Ebola case while urging continued help for the epidemic in West Africa.
The Obama administration is facing a barrage of questions about the virus and its effort to respond, including why officials will not ban travel from the three countries most affected. "Even if we tried to close the border, it wouldn't work," Frieden said Friday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
"People have a right to return, people transiting through could come in, and it would backfire because by isolating these countries will make it harder to help them."
Frieden also said the U.S. would be at risk until the epidemic in West Africa is contained.
"We all want and wish we would have something where we're at zero risk," he said. But beating Ebola in Africa is "the only way we'll do that."
You may have a point. We don’t know which it is. Is it REALLY BAD, or not much of a threat. There isn’t an in between.
I read that this morning and wonder if she could have “carried” it with her and let’s say touched money ..handed it to clerk who then rubbed her eyes or scratched an itch. I wonder if that is even a possibility. We know the virus can live on surfaces from hours to days depending on which research you read.
It’s just a scenario ..am pondering some unlikely but possible methods of transmission.
Exponential the possibilities. Who knows if West Africans have some immunity already to this disease? This could be the “smallpox” decimation of the Western World? We don’t know? What I do know is anyone that parrots WH, MSNBC, CNN, alphabet networks talking points, I don’t trust.
You’re right- and it’s one if several reasons why this is so alarming. We simply cannot trust any source of information.
What if (OK, when) a city like Atlanta gets hot? With dead piling up at the hospitals?
The Atlanta guy tested negative for Ebola.
Frieden is a liar, fool and—worse of all—an obama jock sniffer.
Maybe, but I barely have the bandwidth to keep up with the pings.
*click* spin *click* spin *click* spin BANG!
Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!
Bring Out Your Dead
Were gonna need
a bigger cart!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
I know. You have been doing a hurculean job and I among others really appreciate it
Bullocks.

Almost as wise as the hospital orderlies taking out the biohazardous waste in MOPP suits, ....with the sleeves rolled up to their biceps, because they were warm.
Highly trained containment crewman #1 says to #2: “Whew, that boy sure did puke a lot! Hey, you wanna go grab a couple burritos after this job, I’m starved!”
“I think I got some of it in my mouth...”
“Eh don’t worry about that. Just get some extra hot sauce on yer burrito.”
I would have sworn that the CDC is a U.S. entity. That it was established to prevent and control disease in the U.S. What is this bullshit about beating the epidemic in West Africa? The role of the CDC is to prevent and control disease in the United States of America. The WHO, or the NWO, or the Go F’Yourself O can take care of the control and prevention of disease in West Africa. Who pays Mr. Friedens salary???? Mr. Frieden, who pays your salary?
Thank you.
We all want and wish we would have something where we’re at zero risk,” he said. But beating Ebola in Africa is “the only way we’ll do that.”

Ok, lets do that-beat Ebola in Africa-that means keeping it in Africa, so ban all travel from Africa. Set up a decontamination zone, and let supplies be dropped off there.
NO MORE FLIGHTS FROM THESE REGIONS
Doctor who are helping maybe only if there is a quarantine zone, where doctors and health care workers who volunteer can wait for 30 days before they are released into their own countries or something.
