On June 20 former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney called for South Carolina to remove the Confederate flag from their state Capitol grounds in Columbia.
His call comes in the wake of the heinous attack on Charlestons Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. It follows a photo of the suspected gunman, Dylann Roof, in which Roof is seen leaning against his car with a Confederate flag license plate visible on the front of his vehicle being widely circulated.
Here were Romneys exact words: Take down the Confederate Flag at the SC Capitol. To many, it is a symbol of racial hatred. Remove it now to honor Charleston victims.

He’s not a candidate. People choose to run the idea that he is. Jeb Bush has beaten him. It doesn’t matter how hard he tries, it matters if he succeeds, which he already hasn’t.
It’s not something he can lie about when Jeb Bush has outdone him at fundraising. That’s just a fact. The big donors who supported Romney in 2012 are in the Bush camp. Bush already beat Romney, most likely because even the leftist GOP Voters don’t want to throw their donations down the drain again for the guy who cost them the election. Romney is dead at the bottom of the ocean as a candidate. He wouldn’t have gotten nominated in 2012 had the other GOP’s not really been so poor in their performance.
Did you read post 200?
The sleazy pro-abortion liberal is still trying to run the party and have influence.
And I try to fly with paper wings? Does that mean I will actually fly? It doesn’t matter how much he tries, even the left-leaning republicans don’t want anymore to do with the guy that lost the race as the nominee, plus is old and all the more senile. His ship has sailed, and he has no chance at winning. This is coming from someone who is in touch with liberal Republicans on a regular basis. The establishment republicans want to run someone else. It doesn’t matter how much of an opinionated blowhard he is, if no one wants him, he won’t be a nominee.
It was set up to properly balance the Federal and State governments and maintain unity and order among the states.
WRONG.... States have citizens.. The US has NONE..
The fed gov’t is a construct.. only on paper..
It’s not “real”.. States are tangible.. the fed is mental and legal.. a legal construct..
All citizens are members of States, D.C. is not a State..
never was, still isn’t.. until the US becomes a democracy..
and the States become Provence’s even if they are still called States..
like Canada in that primitive Junta..
I don’t know what your worry is about Romney being insulted, but he just held court with the primary candidates.
The man is scum, let it go.
With this the only votes this demigod will get in the South are Mormons who don’t know any better than to support fools like Romney and Reid.
why don’t you let it go, as all you have ever told me is the vague (he is trying to influence like every other blowhard)? Good night.
Of course he is scum. I don’t see why you harp on the obvious.
Only if he gets the nomination, and since the new candidates are a different set from 2012, I see someone else winning it this year.
Romney isn't done with politics, and we aren't done with Romney.
Romney has great influence, why do you defend him so much and want people to leave him alone?
Especially on a Romney thread, why not take a break?
Let me make this clear. Mitt Romney just told a Southern state that elected a black United States Senator and a governor whose parents came over from Punjab that they need to take down the Confederate flag to prove they’re not racist.
exactly
exactly, I wish some would do some research before they open their mouths like Romney.
ironic isn’t it. Maybe he should study a little history and not the revised history either.
LOL! There isn’t anything Romney “can’t” lie about. He’d rather lie than tell the truth.
The money you keep saying prevents him from running may be a part of the electoral process, but it isn’t everything and remember, he has plenty of it. Power and influence is important as well. It’s JEB!’s Bush family power that got him e/e RINO backing over Mitt. But if JEB! starts sliding down a hole, power can shift. Mitt has owned Marco Rubio since before Marco won the senate seat he now holds. Mitt also seems to have ties to Scott Walker.
If JEB! falters, gets beaten/outgunned, especially by a conservative, and Walker or Rubio (both friend’s of Mitt) seem unable to overcome, Mitt for president will most definitely make an appearance. In truth, it doesn’t matter what you or I think. What Mitt thinks matters. I guarantee you that Mitt’s hunger to avenge his father’s loss has not abated. Only when it is absolutely impossible for him to ever run again, will he even think about putting running for president away for good.
Mitt has been in this position before and you see what happened. You can believe he’s hoping with all his might that things fall into place for him to run again. I’m praying we don’t get saddled with lying loser Romney again. Burying your head in the sand and denying that it is even possible, does not help.
“Just wonderin- have you ever felt entirely stupid?”
Only after reading some ‘pragmatist’ posts trying to postulate this incredibly stupid idea that if you vote for a liberal Republican from a commie Yankee state that you can get conservative results.
I’m offended by the purveyors of hatred that have black skin
“Romney is done with politics, yet it boggles my mind why some Freepers need to keep beating the dead horse about him possibly making it into this year. mamy of his donors are with Jeb Bush.”
That horse is still trying to pull the wagon to the left, and therefore, needs beating.
