La Raza and conflict of interest over the issue of illegal immigration is what Trump and co. need to start pounding hard, immediately. People don't understand the issue and are getting only the Demoncrat/MSM take that Trump hates Mexicans etc. This is a winning not a losing issue with the majority but it must be framed and explained correctly.

The Donald has this all figured out. He will spring the facts on the sleazy liars of the media at the right time and the right place. They will look like fools AGAIN, he will be right AGAIN. He will go up in the polls.

Unfortunately, the MSM/Democrats have been allowed to frame the issues for too long. They’ve conditioned a lot of people to swallow what they hand out uncritically.

Of course, this is one reason I like Trump so much. He doesn’t sit back and take it, and, unlike too many Republican candidates in the past, he doesn’t break out into apologies just because the corrupt media launches an attack.

In all of the media uproar over the weekend, I never once heard the actual standard explained by anyone (including Republicans with law degrees), nor did I hear the words “la raza”. Newt, Ted, Marco, Paul .... I guess they support La Raza. Will anyone ask them?

Unless you have less than two brain cells to rub together, anyone belonging to an organization called “The Race” IS a racist.

Did this “professor” get his degree online? Anyone who went to a real university knows that only white males can be biased. And should know that all white males are biased. This “professor” is obviously racist and needs some diversity training if he’s even allowed to keep his job.

A Washington D.C. law professor has given credence to Donald Trump’s charge that U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel

Well I am glad to see this but common sense(we do still have common sense?) would dictate that any member of a political/lobbying race groups is going to be racial by definition.

Time to either disband all these race groups or whites get their own.

The Race, not La Raza, we should not help them obfuscate their racism.

I think most normal people recognized that the brouhaha was not about Trumps bias, but the judge’s.
I also think most here will admit Trump was not articulate enough in voicing his concerns and at this point, he absolutely has to be.
The problem is, Trump is a threat to the Washington ruling class of both parties. They will comb though every phrase and word he utters in order find that word or phrase they can use against him.
They are as vicious as an old she coon in their defense of their power and money.

You are exactly right, if he had framed it that way from the start, most of this uproar would have been seen for exactly what it is, to distract people from the scenes of Mexican flag waving, American flag burning howling mobs attacking Trump supporters.

I suspect now that some sunshine has been shone on this judge and The Race, the issue as a political weapon for Hillary, will quietly go away.

“Mr. Curiel’s membership and active role in the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association, whether or not it creates an actual bias, is enough to disqualify him from presiding over the case, said Victor Williams, a professor at Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law.”

Not just this case; but any case. He shouldn’t be a judge.

That’s not the standard,” he said. “The standard is could there be an appearance of impropriety. That’s the standard.”

Yepper - appearances count - not to mention the questionable actions by the judge (cadged as "minor mistakes"). Trump and his lawyers are all over this and those who think he's wrong are ready to lick the boots of the Leftist Masters...

Could a Muslim Judge Be Trump Neutral? Trump Thinks Not

He’s right.
______________
Trump has more common sense than all the politically correct worshipers out there. Judges need to abide by ethical rules of behavior. A professional conflict of interest can be actual or created by an appearance. Both must be avoided in order to promote public confidence in the judicial system. While only the judge knows if he harbors an actual bias toward Trump, there clearly exists an appearance of a conflict, not only by his Mexican heritage and pro-Mexican associations but by the way he has been conducting himself in the case. The ethical thing to do would be to recuse himself from deciding the case but these days it is whatever you can get away with that matters.

“This is a winning, not a losing issue with the majority but it must be framed and explained correctly. “

Totally agree. The left has very little to work with to fight him, and they are all in on this in a desperate attempt to paint him as something he isn't. This is his opportunity to actually destroy their chances for this election entirely, and essentially send them back to the political stone age (which is where they are ideologically anyway).

Specifically, he needs to point out that he is not now, nor has he ever been the member of a group that identified itself on the basis of race - but this judge is a member of an association that literally calls itself by the name La Raza - the race.

He should point out that he has never mischaracterized himself as the member of a specific minority in order to gain special treatment - like Warren, and how this type of behavior is the ultimate racism because it potentially displaces a real minority from the position or special treatment that was received - thus nullifying the point of the special treatment in the first place (essentially say that Elizabeth Warren stole from native Americans). Etc. Etc. Go after them, and make them pay for using the race card.
