The problem is that Trump’s actual words are inartful. He did not cite Judge’s associations as basis for prejudice. Further, even if Judge is possessed with the appearance of impropriety, he must acknowledge it and recuse himself.
If be fails to do so, Trump’s lawyers must make a timely motion to the judge to recuse himself and if judge then fails to do so a hearing must be held.

Yes he did. He said from the first that the Judges associations made his ability to be unbiased doubtful.

The Media simply ignored that part of his words.

I listened to Mark Belling as he stood in for Rush. He quoted Donald, including this: “is a member of a club or society, very strongly pro-Mexican.”

Then Belling simply ignored that part of Trump’s quote.
