Simply because it won’t work. They are already in American’s hands. Do they think words on a piece of paper will make them suddenly disappear?
just make it a voice vote and declare the amendment failed...
sheesh...
Nancy, Nancy, Nancy...nobody is falling for your malarky anymore.
They get traction out of blaming intransigent Republicans.
Yeah, good luck enforcing it.
Because they know that if they can get the Republicans to vote to suppress those on the terror watch list and no fly list then they can win. How? By simply increasing whom they want on the lists. Tea Party types, conservatives, just about everybody. Then try getting yourself off that list.
No what you are now all doing is running a massive effort to distract from the fact that Trump has been on target all along and Hillary has and will continue to enable the terrorists.
Stay focused everyone
Like in Paris? Like in Brussels?
MEDIC! Something is wrong! @#$%&!
Ulmer said that background checks are the key to....
******************
Universal background checks are code for making every transfer of a firearm illegal unless reported to the government.
Backdoor registration.
They can’t confiscate until they know where they are.
Like everything else there will be scope creep. Even if you forget the lack of due process around the watch list consider how the IRS and the SPLC treat the TEA party.
Joe the Plumber and the like would be on the no-gun list for the same reaspn - some nazi bureaucrat would dislike them and go after them.
Taking away people’s rights because they are on Obama’s terror list ? Not thanks.
Both parties are enemies of the people.
Before Orlando, our worst mass shooting was at Virginia Tech in 2007. 33 dead, 23 injured. The shooter, Cho, did not use so-called assault weapons. He used 2 handguns, a Walther .22lr pistol and a Glock 9mm pistol with 10 and 15 round magazines.
Those advocating “no fly, no buy” need to consider unintended consequences: that will subject “no fly” to the spotlight of due process & other established rights, likely eliminating “no fly”.
If they pass a ban simply redesign them into pump rifles or lever action rifles as Ruger did years ago when it looked like Congress was going for a ban.
Well, no, and that's the problem. No only was the shooter NOT on the FBI list anymore, he had credentials as a licensed security guard. Even with an AWB he'd have gotten his gun.
And again, the gun prohibitionists refuse to face the truth: that this activity is not supported by any majority of the American public as they repeatedly claim, it is rejected by the vast majority. The mere fact that these pushes only come in times of emotional stress over a spectacular event is evidence to this. If an AWB were that popular it'd be law by now.
What would have prevented this is keeping his nutcase father from immigrating. And they refuse to go there.
Convert the “No-Fly” terrorist watch list into a “fly once out of the country and never come back” list.
Problem solved. No need to add “no-guns” to the list title.
Bigots who hate the Constitution.
That's the key, they tell us -- we can't beat ISIL unless we call them "radical Islamists." What exactly would using this label accomplish? What exactly would it change? Would it make ISIL less committed to trying to kill Americans? Would it bring in more allies? Is there a military strategy that is served by this? The answer is none of the above. Calling a threat by a different name does not make it go away. ...So there's no magic to the phrase "radical Islam." It's a political talking point; it's not a strategy.
