Two things I can't believe: First, I can't believe that yours is the only thread on this event. Second, I can't believe I voted for this guy!
He's boasting that he's the one to finally push through the democrat anti-second amendment agenda. WTF???
A few things off the top of my head: This "weapons of war" nonsense (which he's bought into, hook, line, and sinker) -- unless I'm mistaken, some time back in the 1930's -- and someone correct me if I'm wrong -- the SCOTUS ruled that it is only "weapons of war" that are protected by the Second Amendment!
As I recall, the issue was a guy who had a sawed-off shotgun, and the case boiled down to a question of whether or not a short-barreled shotgun had any military application, and the prosecution asserted that it did not, and so, they ruled that the short-barreled shotgun was NOT legal, solely because it was of no use to the military.
It later turned out that it was being used by the military. But, the case was further complicated by the fact that the defendant died during the proceedings.
The point of this is that somehow, in the intervening years, the whole "military grade weapons" ruling has been turned on its head, completely topsy-turvy! And so, today, the Orwellian "truth" is that the only firearms that can be owned by "civilians" are precisely those which are not protected by the Second Amendment.
One more time, someone correct me if I'm mistaken on any of this.
In any event, my mind is reeling... The guy who was elected in large part because of his (implicit?) "no gun control will pass on my watch" promise is now handing over the store to the likes of Dianne Feinstein! She drones on and on over the laundry list of everything she's wanted for years, and he responds that they didn't have him in office then, and now there's a new Sheriff in town and things are gonna change.
WTF???
And I wonder how many people realize that "universal background checks" is newspeak for "no more private sales of firearms"?
end_rant :)
The last time Manchin/Toomey bill came up in the Senate it got 54 votes. The companion bill in the House has 200 co-sponsors. If President Trump comes out in support of it, it will pass and you will have to have a background check done in order for you to give your son your .22.

My post was #123 — It was going to be #1 when I began writing it — there were zero replies at that time — but when I was halfway through, my wife got back from work and filled me in on the latest series of crises at work and at church, some major, some trivial. I then came back to finish my post, hit the Send button, and shazam! There were 122 replies posted while I was in the other room talking with my wife!
I’m still shocked that this was the only thread covering this issue, given how earthshaking the implications of what was said at that meeting today.
Federal government has been at war with the public for about 100 years, and the public is not just willing to give up freedom, it is demanding that freedom be taken from it, by force if necessary.
Mind boggling.
