First, when they torpedo this nomination, there'll be fighting in the streets.

Sadly, no there won't. If they approve him then you may see riots in the streets. Conservatives do no riot, they work for a living, Soros gives them nothing.

Don't be so sure of that. Not all Trump voters are like you and me. There are a lot of "disenfranchised" voters, at the end of their rope, who voted for Trump in the desperate hope that he could undo the destruction created by decades of leftist rule.

There are millions of them that wish they could work, and millions more stuck in godawful jobs -- hard work, low pay.

Flyover country is vast and wide, and the people living there are not all exactly thriving.

I've seen the full spectrum. I grew up in NYC, and I've lived in rural Michigan for decades. Before that, I lived in Grosse Pointe Park for a while. Then, a college town, where I had a downtown store in a struggling community.

I was appointed by the Republican governor to two terms as a Michigan HMO Commissioner -- and I've worked in vile factories for minimum wage.

Like I said, I've seen the full spectrum. "The above" barely scratches the surface. I'm pushing 70 now, so I've had plenty of time to observe, and to think. To recall what I've seen, and to analyze.

Yeah, there'll be fighting in the streets alright. There are plenty of people right on the jagged edge -- and they don't vote democrat. Don't forget where that scumbag McVeigh and his cohorts came from -- oh, right -- RURAL MICHIGAN. The same place that serves as a breeding ground for the likes of "The Michigan Militia" and many other outfits that make them seem like The Peace Corps.

There are scads of neo-nazis, for example. And I doubt they vote democrat either. And yes, they're really there, I'm not imagining it. One of them actually tried to recruit ME to the cause -- even after knowing I was a Jew!

Another one -- a "Town Father" type -- owned the big hardware store in the rural town near where I live -- erected a freestanding corkboard in the main aisle, so that no one could go to the checkout counter without passing by it.

He only tacked ONE thing on it: A few pages from a major neo-nazi publication.

Utterly shameless. And why shouldn't he be? This area was a hotbed of klan activity maybe half a century ago. I'm sure there are a fair number of attics with neatly folded sheets and hoods sitting in steamer trunks.

I've run into the exact same type in other parts of the country too -- it's NOT just a "Michigan thing" -- it's a "Rural America thing."

Conservatives working in good careers -- like when I was making $60/hr consulting for local government (back when $60/hr was good money) -- or doctors, lawyers, educators, business owners (of the prosperous variety, rather than the hardscrabble barely-surviving type)... airline pilots, long-haul truckers... the list goes on and on.

THEY won't be fighting in the streets. But they're not everyone -- and not everyone else is a leftist.

I'll close with a little anecdote -- something that happened about thirty years ago.

It was a few years after I was crippled in a serious car wreck. Rear-ended by a 19 year old backwoods slut that was hopped up on pills. Rammed me at 45 MPH while I was in my subcompact, stopped behind a stationwagon at an intersection.

It was several years after my divorce, and I was living alone. When I'd get sick -- bad sick; stuff like the flu, or sometimes just a "bad cold" that will knock you for a loop when your body has been wrecked -- I was not able to cook for myself. I could barely move around at all.

So, I'd go to the surplus store and the gun show when it was in town, and I'd stock up on cases of MREs (before Janet Reno forbade their sale to civilians).

They kept me alive until I was able to move around enough to prepare real food for myself.

So,I'm at the local gunshow -- once or twice a year they'd come to town -- shopping the tables for MREs. Finally, I found a guy with a big stack of cases. I bought several of them, and he put them on a cart to roll them out to my car for me.

While we're walking, he's talking. A mile a minute. He's agitated. He's sweating. He's red in the face. And, he's in the Michigan Militia.

He's telling me how they're expecting Janet Reno to do something major -- any minute now, with no warning. Ban all their guns or something, I can't remember what it was. What I do remember is his telling me how "We're ready for it" -- and then explaining how his car was packed with guns and ammunition and he was ready to go to war.

I was like, "Well, thank you for helping me with the MREs, I really appreciate it," and I couldn't get outta there as fast as I could!

He was typical of several other people "of that ilk" I've encountered.

No fighting in the streets because conservatives work for a living? Don't kid yourself. Don't live in the world you'd like to live in -- live in the world you DO live in -- a world that not very far beneath the veneer of civility is a seething mass of frustrated, disenfranchised people from all across the political spectrum.

I said I'd close with that anecdote, but I'm going to tack on two valuable freebies:

First, slap yourself in the face, hard, if you ever catch yourself saying -- or even thinking that, "It can't happen here."

Second, never forget what George Santayana said about never forgetting: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

I fully expect it to happen here, just not our side. Our side sat back and let them get away with Ruby Ridge and Waco, then Elian and we did nothing. Well we did complain but little else except watch Snarlin Arlen while he white washed the mass murder in Waco. All we did was take the blame for OK City. (OK Submariner posted plenty on that, but she has left us.

I am 10 years older than you, born in absolute poverty in a small town in Oklahoma, I am now in Southern Oregon, on a small average, in the country. I am prepared to fend off neighbors but not organized swat/military. I got out of the military 53 years ago.
