Don’t think you can fully blame the parents. Kids lie. Could say they’re going to this friend’s house, or that friend’s house, could get dropped off, and once parents pull away, they can go elsewhere. Not that every kid does this, but enough so that I would imagine it’s pretty commonplace, even for 1982.

When I got my learner’s permit, I could only drive in the day with an adult (then defined in my state as 21 yrs. old, IIRC) beside me.
There was never any real need for that committee meeting in the first place.

Well, I think Ms. Mitchell did a very good job - which was to be impartial, and draw out information. Her report seems to be on-spot.
The reason for two front doors might be to get a tax break listing her “home office”.
It was probably something like that. At any rate, it seems odd that she apparently went a couple of decades before she realized the pressing need of her claustrophobia for two doors.
Yet, we've heard about these two guys who claim they did this to Ford, and not a word is heard on TV, or by any politicians.
Now, it could be that their story doesn't pan out, but that hasn't stopped any of the stories that make Kavanaugh look bad.
Do I detect some malice toward Byron York? He’s actually on OUR side. He was getting at Ford’s deviousness. She carefully did NOT name Garrett. Because she DATED him for several years, and thought she better leave him unnamed. He KNEW it was a crock.
