Sean Connery remained in Bahamas home through Hurricane Dorian

Actor Sean Connery said he is “lucky” to have escaped the destruction left by Hurricane Dorian since he and his wife remained in the Bahamas as the storm passed.

Connery stayed in his full-time residence on the island of New Providence with his wife, the painter Micheline Roquebrune, the Daily Mail reported. The storm largely avoided the island where the couple lives, but trees were knocked down and torrential rain and heavy winds were recorded.

“We are both fine,” the 89-year-old actor told the Scottish Daily Mail. “We were lucky compared to many others and the damage here was not great. We had been prepared for the storm, everything was ready in advance – we weren’t taking any chances and knew what to do."

Connery has a staff who helped him prepare his home for the storm, the Daily Mail reported, including barricading the house and securing its windows. His home is about 90 miles from Great Abaco, which was one of the worst-hit areas by the storm.

Yep, said he first fell in love with the place during filming of Dr. No in 1962 in Jamaica.

Only an idiot plays Russian roulette with a Category 5 hurricane. I don’t know how many of the 70,000 people had the opportunity and means to leave the islands ahead of the hurricane, but every one of them who failed to is a royal bleeping retarded idiot.

A staff to do all the preparations sure helps. Having money certainly provides for even additional preps.

Like I’d read in college about Vietnam....the old would prefer to take their chances in their hut during a US planned and announced bombing than leave escorted to safety by our soldiers. Old people aint leavin’!
Help them stay/survive or not, but they aint leavin’. Death is preferred to leaving.

Yeah, he probably lives near Nassau, which is where the celebrities live.

For reference, West Palm Beach is twice as far from Great Abaco (183 miles).

One of my favorite Connery films was "Finding Forrester." He mentors a young black writer. In the movie, he starts talking black too! Hilarious.

Connery, IMO, is easily one of the top ten actors of all time. The man is just an icon.

“........however, my toupée was a victim of the winds, and was last seen atop a shark swimming back out to sea. I am offering a $10,000 reward for its return. There’s an extra $2,000 in it if the finder brings me a few shark steaks for grilling.”

Well, there will be a problem with water, food, medicine, transport, and just plain sorting through this.

I’ve read a few articles about a whole lot of dead bodies.
