L.A. Times: California Policymakers Have Failed for Decades on Gas Prices
Breitbart ^ | 10/09/2022 | Joel B Pollack

Posted on 10/09/2022 7:56:30 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

The reliably left-wing Los Angeles Times has published an unusually candida analysis: that California’s policymakers, given ample warnings about the state’s vulnerability to high gas prices, have failed to do anything to address the basic problems that cause them.

The Times recounted how the state created special committees in the 1990s, and again in the last decade, to deal with the challenges created by California’s “green” regulations and its aggressive environmental rules on the one hand, and market realities on the other.

Not to worry the entire state will be running electric cars soon. No biggie. I’m sure the electric grid there can handle it. No need for gas.

Nah, this is the outcome they want to happen. You don’t “fail” over and over again without changing course otherwise

They’ve failed on water. They failed on schools. They failed on electricity. They failed on public safety. They failed on a high-speed train. The list is near endless.

We foolishly enacted a term limit law decades ago. This means no politician can stick around long enough to see things through. None will ever be held accountable. It is the ultimate bureaucratic state where nameless, faceless people run everything behind the scenes and then get a fat pension for failing. The politicians just grub at the trough for a few years then move on to law firms, think tanks, lobbying firms etc.

I understand the sentiment behind term limits but I voted against it for this reason. No accountability for anyone. The wrath of the voters means nothing.

I would argue they haven’t failed at all. The politicians have funneled projects to their union buddies every chance they get, and the kickbacks are making them richer. They are successfully looting the public treasury.

No one is ever held accountable anyway. Oh they’ll do a few investigations, a few hearings then it’s swept away. Poof! Like you said, the people mean nothing.

They haven’t failed. They have actively and intentionally done this. It is their goal. They have been successful.

I am not sure what “accountability” means—unless we plan on dealing with anti-people bad actors Chinese or North Korean style.

Ima translate this: It hurts when you get what you voted for.

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

The left wants skyrocketing gas prices to further their goal of forcing people to live in democrat controlled cities and use mass transit. They just don’t want skyrocketing gas prices right before elections.

They actually succeeded in accomplishing their goal…modify behavior of the population through cost. They’re doing the same thing with electricity.

We in AZ are actually feeling CA problems too.
Phoenix is getting all gas from CA refineries and it is quite expensive.
Although AZ gas taxes are very low, our gas prices are high just because the gas comes from CA!
