Zeldin RNC bid gains momentum as party leaders line up behind him

New York Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin's prospective bid for Republican National Committee leadership is resonating with party big-wigs, even though he has yet to formally announce plans to seek the post.

Calls to replace current RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel have arisen follow the GOP's unexpectedly poor showing in the 2022 midterm elections. The much anticipated "red wave" failed to materialize and the Republicans managed to secure the House of Representatives by a handful of seats.

"We underperformed nationally. There were strategic missteps," said Republican Party of Texas Chairman Matt Rinaldi to the New York Post on Thursday. Rinaldi, in turn, pointed to GOP success in New York races as the deciding factor that carried the lower chamber for the party. Zeldin himself lost his gubernatorial contest against incumbent Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, but his strong showing in deep-blue New York has been credited with boosting Republicans down-ballot.

"[I]n New York, Lee Zeldin went into communities that Republicans don't traditionally go into and talked about crime and inflation," he continued. "He overperformed in blue areas. He exceeded expectations. Lee Zeldin won us the House majority and he wasn't even the RNC chair."

"Imagine what he can do if he is the RNC chair," he continued.

Last month, McDaniel released a letter signed by 101 of the RNC's 168 delegates indicating they supported her to continue as leader, though Zeldin told the Post this week that "[t]he letter did not have a deterrent effect on me."

At least some delegates have already pledged to back a Zeldin leadership bid, including Bill Palatucci of New Jersey and Jay Shepard of Vermont, per the Post. Zeldin reportedly plans to make a formal decision following next week's Georgia Senate runoff.

My Pillow founder Mike Lindell has also launched a longshot bid for the post.

Who are these 101 delegates? A bunch of griters that’s for sure. I am sure Harmeet Dhillon wants Ronna ROMNEY McDaniel because she has made her a lot of money filing losing lawsuits all over the place.

After three failed election cycles, it is time to turn the page and the RNC over to Lee Zeldin.

I’m on board with Zeldin. I don’t want McDaniel or the pillow guy yelling at me.

McDaniel needs to go. She just keeps failing.

The Pillow biter guy needs to go back to his crack pipe. He’s just as insane as Kanye.

Ronna has got to go. She bad for the party which makes her bad for this nation.

No ground game. She doesn’t play by the rules the dems created. She is a very weak excuse of RNC chair. Time for her to move on.

Zeldin is the best bet.

Time for Ronna McDaniel to be replaced. Maybe he’ll make a good replacement.

The RNC members are mostly older, wealthy Republican donors who got themselves elected as national committeemen and committeewomen in their respective states. They are nice people but have little understanding of how to plan and run an effective modern campaign.

Zeldin has openly said the GOP should fight against ballot harvesting but where it already exists to get better at it than the Democrats. That’s literally the only way to stop it.

Many years ago, my brother was voted in as the youngest mayor in the state of Ohio. That kid went knocking on just about every door in our town to tell folks he was running and what he stood for. He won in a landslide. I think that is what is missing in todays politics. When the terms are up for those in DC and they run for re-election, they really don’t go back to their states and campaign. They don’t go from town to town and knock on doors or hold speeches in town squares. Why should they...they get millions from PACs and corporations to put out smear ads on their opponents. Warnock and Walker are going at it like that right now. Neither one really tells us what they stand for and what they want to accomplish for their constituents. When you take the personal contact out of elections...you take out the reasons to vote for someone. I don’t know if I’ll ever vote again honestly.

And there's the problem. GOPe is thinking how to influence voters, but the DNC is thinking how to switch their votes, undetected. Database latency, for example. Change a buch of zip codes of registered voters days before mailing out ballots so they get collected as undeliverable mail at the USPS, who is part of the 'steal'. After the mailing, change the bad zips back to good, and who knows the difference?

Zeldin is not the 2nd coming, but he’s better than McDaniel.
It’s time for a change for sure, but I would like to hear what Zeldin feels he can accomplish and what he would do.

The problem with this theory is that all the postal workers would have to be in on it. I don’t think that is possible. Not all postal workers are democrats. Plus what about the folks that are waiting for their ballots? We watch for ours and if we don’t get them in a timely fashion, we are at our local elections office demanding answers.
