The city of Portland will no longer have any more Walmart stores.
At the end of March, all Walmart stores within Portland’s city limits will officially close.
In statement Walmart revealed “The decision to close these stores was made after a careful review of their overall performance. We consider many factors, including current and projected financial performance, location, population and customer needs.”
Portland has been the center of ANTIFA and BLM terrorism over the last several years.
People who live near the stores that are closing say the closure is going to have a big impact on them and low-income shoppers.
“Safeway is the go-to-store if I have to but that’s three times the price I would spend here,” Amanda Pahl said. “What are we going to do? You got to go further, then you have to spend gas money. Might as well pay for it at Safeway at this point.”
According to a Walmart spokesperson, pharmacy staff will work with customers to transfer their prescriptions to other locations before that date.

Portland and Seattle were beautiful cities, clean 30 years ago. I can’t believe the dumpsters they’ve turned into.

I don’t feel sorry for the citizens of Portland one bit. THEY voted for the city government that ALLOWS and CONDONES BLM and Antifa violence - even provided them with a close-in camping ground by the river downtown when they were at their height working against President Trump. Wheeler is despicable as are all the other Democrat puke-leftists who want to take his place.
So all you residents, spend a few years in the urban desert YOU helped create and realize that ‘choices have consequences.’ It’s gonna suck to be you.
We are afraid of that. It’s getting very crowded and the libs are getting some power, especially in Boise, Moscow and Sun Valley.
Generally, I find most people moving in bring conservative viewpoints with them and they are truly segregating themselves from the insane places.
I was there in the early 70s stationed at Ft. Lewis, they were wonderful cities.

It is pretty simple. The city of Portland allows people to steal with impunity. Walmart loses money. Walmart closes the store.
I remember when I moved to [large Texas city} 30 + years ago, I had to drive to the next county to find a Walmart.
We have a summer place in Northern Idaho, we thought we’d retire there but it is getting over run. Probably will sell it and retire to Texas.
Depends where you are. Overrun near CdA. Less so up around Sandpoint. Much less so farther north at Bonners Ferry. Much less so down around St. Maries, but that area is picking up. Still lots of open land down around Worley and to the west of there.
I’d miss the lakes and mountains in TX.
“What are we going to do?” Um, read the rules of Sam Walton and open a new store. Duh.
Traditions are hard to shake. Until recently, it was illegal to pump your own gas in Oregon. Portland has more rainfall than most other cities on the West Coast, yet they are totally unprepared for the occasional snowstorm that makes driving difficult and/or dangerous on unplowed streets. Not to worry; the snow will melt.
Like San Francisco, Portland is ga-ga over trolley cars, real or fake. Elements of the city gummint would like to banish the automobile from city streets. (How’s that for retro thinking?) Bicycles have de facto right-of-way at intersections. Envision combining the worst traffic laws of Beijing and Paris.
Whether the decision to close all Walmart stores in Portland was helped along by political pressure or was just a business decision we’ll likely never know. Either way, it’s not going to have much effect on either the residents of Portland or Walmart’s bottom line. It will give the Walmart haters temporary satisfaction until the next big box store moves into a former Walmart location.

“Just north of the “city” was the first Walmart Superstore I had seen. Anybody and everybody shopped there. Prices were at least half of what I could buy in CT. Fantastic store at that time.”
I think my first one was in Lancaster, California, well outside of the influence of Los Angeles. Awesome store...and what impressed my most was that it was a department store that actually sold oil filters, something that I’ve never seen before (although they were, and are, the crappy Fram ones).
We are Northwest people and it’s kills us and this why we have been hesitant to relocate to the south. Our place is between CDA and Sandpoint. They put a Super One in Athol near Farragut, if they build they will come.
