Up to 100 protesters have been arrested at a Pro-Palestine demonstration outside the Brooklyn home of Jewish Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer.
The protesters called for an end to US aid for Israel on a day of mass protest in New York and around the world after the leader of Hamas called for a global 'day of outrage.'
Hundreds of people, organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, gathered at the Grand Army Plaza before marching a short distance to the senator's Park Slope residence and blocking the street.
Protesters were arrested in the street, after blocking the flow of traffic, and placed on two MTA buses.
The demonstration comes as Schumer prepares to depart for Israel this weekend, where he will lead a delegation of senators to show support for the country's government, a spokesperson announced on Friday.
Some protesters were seen holding signs that read 'Zionism is terrorism' and 'End Israeli apartheid.'
Others held a banner with the words 'Jews say stop genocide against Palestinians.'
An NYPD spokesperson said a total tally on the number of arrests from the demonstrations would not be available until later into the weekend.
President Joe Biden spent about 45 minutes on Friday talking with the families of missing Americans in Israel, CNN reported.
The father of missing American Sagui Dekel-Chen told the outlet 'as an American citizen, as an Israeli citizen, as someone whose beloved son, we are sure is being held alive, dead, wounded, we don't know, I could not possibly ask for more than President Biden expressed about the United States' commitment to getting these people back.'
Dekel-Chen said that although Biden could not give much information the president's 'willingness to listen' was 'extraordinary.'

Right now what’s really making us vulnerable is the Congress and no speaker. Word on the international street is right now due to an internal federal crisis, the US cannot declare war. It does not matter if it’s true or not. What matters is the message it sends out to the world.
