Egypt willing to accept Americans from Gaza but Hamas stopping crossing, White House says

Hamas has been stopping Americans from leaving Gaza through the Rafah crossing to Egypt, even though Cairo has agreed to let US citizens cross into the country, the White House said Sunday....
CNN spoke to several Gaza residents Saturday who said they tried to leave via the Rafah crossing but were eventually turned away.

Are those Americans in Gaza on vacation or something? Mostly visiting family, some activists/aid workers/volunteers. I would assume most are anti-Israel, anti-American, pro-Hamas. But they are Americans, so the US has to do what is required to rescue/help them. Kind of like Brittany Griner in Russia.
Funny that pretty much every "Palestinian American" I've ever met is an America hating, terror supporting radical. Persian and Iraqi Americans I know are the opposite, loving America and hating the terrorists that infest their homeland.
