How much of Gaza is Hamas?
American Thinker ^ | 10/22/23 | Ardie Geldman

The argument remains. On one side are those who credit and feel indebted to President Biden and his administration for the unbridled moral support and the massive military aid, worth millions of dollars, the U.S. is giving to Israel to assist in our war against Hamas (and Hezb’allah).

On the other side, the position is that if this administration had been much tougher with Iran from the outset, actually maintaining the policy toward Iran during the Trump administration, the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel would never have happened.

The Biden administration’s conciliatory gestures and language further empowered Iran, leading to Hamas’s invasion of southern Israel. This surprise incursion was one of Iran’s tactics to weaken Israel over time through sporadic attacks by its proxies, including Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezb’allah, and even Yemen. If not for Biden’s efforts to placate Iran, goes this argument, all the people murdered in that attack would be alive today. All the hostages taken would be home with their loved ones and friends.

This debate will go on for a long time, I’m sure. However, I want to relate to the President’s Oval Office speech. In it, President Biden revealed his continuing misunderstanding of the Middle Eastern mind and culture, particularly that of Islamism.

How so? Yes, he called Hamas “pure evil,” but like many liberals, he will not allow himself to admit that most Palestinians in Gaza and Judea and Samaria (the “West Bank”) are supporters of Hamas.

Why is this reality so widely denied? I think for two reasons:

1. To recognize this is too painful for liberals; it threatens hope for an eventual peaceful resolution to the conflict.

2. Because denying it creates a practical dilemma. What position, what action, should Israel (and the democratic world) take vis-à-vis people

Good one.

Should we cite the fight to elect a US House Speaker from the GOP in 2023-2029? “98th vote comes up short for GOP.”

RE: adopted by later historians as a historiographical periodisation.

I hate when they do that. 😁

“FRicking pansy-ass WDC politicians let us fly, fight, and die, but we were not allowed to win!”

Because there isn’t any money in winning. Only in prolonging. From a direct Israeli contact. These are my own sentiments exactly. They don’t want us to stick our noses in it. and we don’t want to “win” it.

“Man, I don’t like how the USA is getting this involved in the war. Feels too much like trying to turn us into Ukraine and draw the war out. They already messed up the operational plans. The original plan was to hold Gaza under siege and not let anything in while launching a preemptive strike against Hezbollah into Lebanon, and then returning to Gaza to clear it out after besieging the strip for a while. Biden decided that we should wait for Hezbollah to launch an invasion and let humanitarian aid into the strip. This while the USA sends in ships and troops to deter Hezbollah.

This does a few things. It draws out the war, and it lets the casualty rate rise, which is bad for us, but it feeds the military industrial complex (essentially the US military aid to Israel is a giant money laundering scheme where taxpayer money gets sent as aid which can only buy American made weapons almost exclusively, and it gives the USA the right to interfere with weapon system development). Another thing is that being in a state of total war for so long is bad for the economy and food security. Essentially, it feels to me like an imperialist way to turn Israel into an American satellite state rather than an ally as far as I can see.”

MinorityRepublican, We more than likely created the whole thing on purpose ourselves by facilitating Iran and Hamas. That is what the powers that be do best.

Always remember … in 2006 Palestinian voters elected Hamas into power in Gaza with a landslide victory.

Hamas even governs with a commie style “politburo.”

Palestinians are by and large … Hamas.

As the adage goes … elections have consequences. The Palestinians who have voted in and condoned Hamas are about to experience those consequences.

That's what Eisenhower would probably say. This benefits the industrial-military complex.

How much of Germany were Nazis?

Not the majority, but we decimated them none the less.

Stupid article.

So we are having a recruiting crisis in the military.

Talking to a Navy recruiter a few months back, he said their biggest problem is that the majority of their potential recruits - lower/middle class - now qualify for free college tuition from their state. People just don't enlist for the GI Bill any more. Those enlisting for college benefits tended to be higher quality recruits.

We'll just have to recruit more illegals and give them the green card.

Yep, I saw you mention that later in the thread so wanted to agree with your point.

Absolutely, the whole thing including Trump being ripped off was all about creating the situation we are in now.

He just about had us out of all the wars... That was just not going to stand with the MIC.

As soon as he was out we arrange WAR. And we are being brainwashed and manipulated to cheer it on.

And why a new speaker of the house absolutely has to be loyal to the MIC war machine.

If we wage war, it should be total and absolute. Not an neverending war. We’ve always been at war with Eurasia.

Gaetz is saying no to that. Therefore no Speaker. Unless the Democrats decide to vote and help to settle the debate. It would have to be done in secret. This is how McCarthy may make a comeback. 200 RINOs plus 20 Democrats vote McCarthy for Speaker.

Obama/Biden was conducting its own foreign policy during the Trump years? Is that treason or would that fall under something else?

“Gaetz is saying no to that. Therefore no Speaker.”

Yep, absolutely and he is right, I full well understand the importance of this despite the misguided impatience of the warhawks in the house and around here.

Did you notice the bogus ignorant talking point about “handing it to the Democrats”? The democrats cannot elect one of their own like Jefferies without so called republicans adding to their vote count. And to break the majority the “idiot 8” as they are being called would ALSO have to vote for Jefferies. So this is a BS narrative to psych out the ignorant.

This timeout is the best thing that could happen to this country right now. The momentum of the MIC war machine absolutely needs to be disrupted.

I think that some “Gazans are innocent victims of a Hamas controlled regime.”

I know that some of them (HAMAS resistors) manage to escape/evade. The same as some Iranians who manage to escape and/or evade the Iranian Islamic terrorist regime. The same as some Christians in Lebanon.

Unfortunately, there will be a deal made to install McCarthy or one of his allies by November 17, just before the government shuts down.

I sure hope not, They need to stand their ground. If they don’t then you will know they have been seriously threatened with the lives of their loved ones. Would the MIC do that? YOU BET, killing is what they do for a living.
