I like Singapore too, I’d like to go back for a vacation someday, but I wouldn’t trade the freedoms we have for living there.
Heck, they fine you for taking a few minutes too long on the subway.
“but I wouldn’t trade the freedoms we have for living there.”
Well, there is such a thing as too much freedom - as the shithole we’ve become proves.
I got a feeling you personally wouldn’t find whatever restrictions they have there too much of a problem. I bet you could easily live with them... and actually enjoy it.
I was there four days and what I saw was a highly developed society with happy well adjusted people going about their lives and no obvious repression. They’re basically common sense laws.
I definitely recommend a visit there. You could make it into a research project. ;)
For us it was a cruise that started there, so we got there 4 days earlier and then we went to Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong. And we spent 4 days in Hong Kong as well.
It was our first trip in that neck of the wood and it was enjoyable, informative, eye-opening... and gained a few pounds in the process.
We’re fed so much propaganda from both sides, it’s nice to see things with your own eyes.
