The English noticed that a country born in secession had come around to agreeing with King George and Parliament in only 78 years. Well at least half of the country did, the other half held to the same right of secession that their fathers and grandfathers did.

Unification by force was one of the goals of the European revolutionaries of 1848 and when that failed a lot of them fled and brought their philosophy to America. They are often credited with securing the 1860 nomination for Lincoln.

Actually, The UK had ties to the Confederacy, and almost recognized it.cottomn WAS VERY important to the UK.
