The rest of the world wants the Ukraine war to go away. Putin has other ideas
CNN via Yahoo ^ | May 13th, 2024 | Nick Paton Walsh, CNN

The changing language used by the Ukrainian military in 72 hours of daily updates tells the story: “Ongoing defensive fighting.” “Significantly worsened.” Russian “tactical success.”

You rarely ever hear Kyiv’s top brass sounding downbeat, but their steep southerly trajectory reflects the grave place Ukraine finds itself in. Russia is not just advancing slowly in one place; it appears to be advancing in four, across the frontline.

Moscow knows it is on the clock: in about a month, the $61billion of US military aid will start to translate into Ukraine having the weapons it has been begging for. So, Russian President Vladimir Putin seems to be throwing whatever he can at it, knowing the fight will likely only get tougher for his forces in the summer ahead.

First, and most acutely troubling, is the northern border near Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city. Russian forces have crossed the border in multiple locations and claim to have seized nine villages. Their move 3 to 4.5 miles (5 to 7 kilometers) into Ukraine, in the border area above Ukraine’s second city of Kharkiv, is arguably their fastest advance since the first days of the war. Russia has thrown five battalions at the border town of Vovchansk, Ukrainian officials said, which has been hit hard by airstrikes over the weekend.

I still say French, German, of Polish troops in Ukraine by July

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I hope you're wrong because Putin would put his itchy finger right on the nuke button.

Wow, what a take.

Over 16,000 sanctions on Russian products and our one trick pony to carve up Russia with Ukraine has resulted in Brics ascension due to our shortsighted breaking of laws to further harm Russia. From illegally stealing assets to Nordstream destruction, the financial system is no longer trusted by 2/3ds of the world looking for stability.

Yahoo puts a lot of faith in lying about the 61B... Biden sent 40% of the 61B without authority and it was only oassed to cover the illegal obligation of Ukraine support. Only half of the 61B was not already obligated or shipped and used.

Ukraine is stripping soldiers from units holding the Southern and Eastern fronts in an attempt to rob Pwtwr to pay Paul... NO RESERVE UNITS REMAIN. The Ukraine gamble is kaput. Without RESERVES you cannot surge to hot spots or break throughs. Russia has broken the organizational integrity of the AFU.

You have zero knowledge of how Europe rolls. Belgium still runs the Congo. France used to run a half dozen African nations. Both countries installed corrupt leaders and for pennies on the dollar raped their natural resources since the early 1950s.

Everything is nice as long as the Intelligence agencies and State Dept run things, but we use troops when the DiploSpies fail us.

Every place overseas you find US Troops you find failed or failing diplomacy, with the exception of NATO or Pacific WWII Footprint.

Estonia is “seriously” discussing the possibility of sending troops into western Ukraine to take over non-direct combat “rear” roles from Ukrainian forces to free them up, Estonia’s national security advisor to the president told Breaking Defense

Russia captured the eastern Ukraine pretty quickly and have been taking their time to grind down the Uke military as they take town after town. It is estimated that the Ukraine has lost some 600,000 soldiers.

Russia has broken the organizational integrity of the AFU.

That went right over the heads of the Ukraine war party cheerleaders.

The Big Bird syndrome, the three monkeys, or their heads up their A$>s.... They cannot hear, see nor talk the truth.

Every FReeper in good standing ascribe to the fact that the MSM is controlled by the DNC and/or the CIA.

Every Zeeper religiously believes the MSM, the DNC.

After Biden’s failed Ministry of Truth attempt even diehard Demon-crats know their version is propaganda.

“used to run a half dozen African nations”

The key word here is “used”. The world changes grows and evolves and so do countries. Most have given up colonialism and wars of conquests that used to dominate the past. Russia is an exception and so are the Islamist countries. If you are looking around you will see that the world is a much different place than it was last century or even 60 years ago.

And Russia is filling that void as in used to a month ago.

You are freaking clueless about what goes on in the world or you are simply a democrat.

Yes, as I said Russia is one of the countries that doesn’t change or evolve and that is why it is a threat. And by the way you mentioned Belgium in the Congo. Belgium has been gone from the Congo for a long time. again it proves that the world is changing for the most part and what happened in the past does not reflect on the current countries level of most countries cultural and ethical evolution. The world is evolving from the lawless frontier that it used to be at a wonderful pace.

Very few countries or people learn the easy way. Most learn in a combination of the easy way and the hard way. Russia only learns the hard way. Remember that!

So, how many major countries beside Russia in the past twenty years have lead wars of conquest to conquer other countries?

“So, how many major countries beside Russia in the past twenty years have lead wars of conquest to conquer other countries?”

Let’s see.

United States - Serbia, Regime Change, divided and a new state created by force
United States- Afghanistan, forcible Regime change and a 20 year puppet gov’t
United States - Iraq, forcible Regime change and an 8 year puppet gov’t
United States - Libya, forced Regime change and an anarchic civil war mess

I’m seeing a commonality here...

No, none of these were wars of conquest. We were dealing with terrorist states in Libya and Afghanistan, both of which were responsible for terrorist attacks on us and our people. We acted in good faith by taking out Saddam Hussein and left the world a better faith. We thought Saddam was involved in terrorism and he did not live up to peace accords that he agreed to after the first Gulf war. Serbia was another rotten regime that had to go. We aimed to win and set up new governments and then left. In each occasion we made the world a better and safer place. So Rev Wright you Rev Wrong again.

You are uninformed. During the time I lived in Belguim, I worked with a guy born in 1966 in the Congo, and he had just returned in 1998, leaving his father and mother; his father has been running the train system in the congo since 1959. Every european country left their people to administer the former colonies so that the new nation would function without falling apart, and essentially to keep them joined at the hip to their european masters.

Do some reading and quit posting BS.

This is Progressivism ! This is the Whig Interpretation of History !

The Bible teaches that:

“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”

Some people and some nations learn from the mistakes of others.

Some nations can only learn from their own mistakes.

And some can’t even manage that.

In the third category is the Globohomo Western Regimes, who double down on their every failure and decay. They copy every destructive move of the Senatorial Elite and Oligarchs of Ancient Rome - but expect a different result !
