Former President Trump accepted President Biden's offer to debate him on television in June and September.

The proposal was outlined by the Biden-Harris campaign in a letter to the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates on Wednesday morning.

It abandoned the decades-old tradition of three fall meetings organized by the debate commission.

Trump could use the debates to score points with suburban female voters, if he can come across as mature, restrained, charming, and not self-absorbed. Unfortunately, he can’t be counted on to act this way.

I am surprised how many Never-Trumpers and TDS sufferers there are here. Plants? But it is FREErepublic - So, let them hang out, be labeled, and soon be ridiculed. We don’t want them banned - as in 2015.

Agree. Some want a one dimensional echo chamber.

In all fairness to Trump, he indicated that he knew he did not come off well in the first 2020 interview against Biden. (Oddly enough, Trump was acting on the advice of Chris Christie his debate prep leader). Add to that the fact that Chris Wallace was openly Shilling for Biden in the role of debate moderator and it was a disaster

However, Trump cleaned Biden's clock in the second debate with a tough but measured tone.

Trump knows just better than anyone how high the stakes are here. I think anyone tuning in to see a steel cage match on his part might be disappointed.

You must be expecting something Dems and RINOs don't see coming?

Trump should demand that both he and Biden submit a blood screen for Adderall or any other stimulant immediately before the debate

Giant cowards both. No third party candidates, not even an audience. If Trump actually cared about democracy, he’d say something about it. He’s part of the same swamp.

Debates reek of academy awards nonsense where people in power treat these events like a social function

And corporate media news desks. But some otherwise sensible people buy it.

"Look how purty that desk is! And they talk so smooth!"

Biden will have all the questions in advance and a little voice in his ear that knows all the answers.

Research labs would be working 24/7 to find something not detectable on standard drug screens.

“ Trump should make demands too”

He won’t. He can’t. Trump’s choice is simplified by the fact that the Biden Reich has complete and total power over everything. They have all along. They will choose ALL the conditions, all the participants, the form, the venue, everything. Trumps choice is to do it, or not, and deal with the consequences. He will do it because otherwise Biden will just go to the basement again and we’ll not see him much until he claims victory in November.

It’s part and parcel of why they can prosecute Trump on bogus charges and he has no choice but to go along with all of it. When you live under a dictatorship, this is how it goes.

And in the end, Trump is doing what he can under the circumstances of living in a dictatorship. That may be his ultimate goal - achieve what he can achieve - he may know he can’t win because this isn’t really an election, it’s a sham. But what he can do is open the people’s eyes that they are ruled by a government dictatorship. If the people won’t rise up against it, he has done all he can do. History will look kindly upon him, though I don’t think it will look kindly on the country he is trying to restore.
